Disco anyone?

Cookie, on March 21, 2011 at 1:27 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 11

My fiance and I have decided to have a really fun wedding: Disco is the theme. We are looking for disco themed decorations and favor ideas. We already have a disco ball and a spotlight for it. An other ideas?

We also need ideas for the invitations and save the dates.

We had thought about using lava lamps to help decorate. My fiance decided this morning he is going to design our save the dates himself since we have not found any we like. He is going to make one of those colored disco dance floors with a disco ball in the upper corner. My mother married in the late 70's and is going to write our sayings in disco lingo for us.

I found these shoes at a local store and bought them because I know the disco era was all about glam.

We are asking that our guests dress in disco attire as well. The wedding party is extremely excited about doing so and have been left to come up with their own disco costume.

We are having the wedding on a yacht so space is tight but the above deco would fit well on the tables for our meal.

@Kristina - a friend of a friend did this and her wedding was awesome (I only saw the pics). All the guests dressed in 70's outfits and the bride changed into a gorgeous white 70's halter pantsuit for the reception. I'll have to check my friends FB page to see if she got any shots of the tables etc.

Not sure if you want to print the STD yourself... but if he designs them, you can upload the image to vistaprint.com and get 100 post cards Free (you pay S&H so $8 for 100) Not sure if you can find paper and ink for a better price than that. Only a few more dollars to get envelopes, and you can get free return stickers too with you image. (bill around $12 for 100 invites, envelopes and 250 return stickers)

That would be awesome. I, too, am thinking of changing into a more appropriate outfit for the era for the reception. My wedding dress does not really reflect the era because I could not find one I like from the times. All the other outfits in the wedding party will be disco era. We also plan to ride off on motorcycles after the reception (the whole wedding party) so by changing I should be able to fit on the bike better.

@Haley - we had thought of giving glow sticks as party favors and actually using sparklers in our send off. Since we will be getting married on a waterway/boat there are many restrictions to what we can do and have but we are trying to make it work.

To enhance your "disco" feel, you will need a DJ with lots of lights... and probably more than a single pinspot on the disco ball.

    Good luck!

We have two spotlights for the disco ball and we have not decided on a DJ. Since we are having the wedding and reception on a yacht we were thinking od doing a play ist on an iPod or multiple CDs (depending on what the sound system can accommodate).

What other lights would we need to consider? We cannot nail or tape anything - we can only use suction cups to hang things. We cannot have a strobe light as I have family members who have seizures, and we are not sure what other lighting would be good for a disco effect.
