Disappointed

Liz, on September 5, 2019 at 9:12 PM Posted in Planning 0 12
So I just a quote from the bus company in the area of our venue and they want $1,200 to drive people 15 minutes from the hotel to venue and back! Are you kidding? I really wanted to provide this option for my guests but that’s a cost I can’t commit too! Will guests really be disappointed?

Does the hotel have it's own shuttle service? Maybe Lyft or Uber can provide a better deal if one of the drivers has a bus or van?

I agree w/ checking w/ the hotel. It was the key factor on deciding which hotel to book. We are able to secure the shuttle for an hour before the ceremony & an hour after the wedding for $300 total. Totally doable in comparison to the $1200 quotes we were receiving.

Hey there Liz! It would definitely be worth checking with the hotel if they have a shuttle service you could rent. I hope it works out 🤞

Wow! What a number for a shuttle! As everyones already said maybe the hotel provides some type of shuttle? If not I'd keep looking, there's gotta be something that's not going to cost an arm and a leg.

If the hotel shuttle option that PP have suggested doesn't work out, Lyft and Uber generally give discounts as well. you can sign up with those services to pay for your guests rides to/from your venue with a code or get them a discount (also with a code).

My two cents: if the hotel doesn't have a shuttle, and using an uber code doesn't pan out, I personally wouldn't worry. We aren't doing a shuttle/car service for our wedding, and so far only one person has asked about it. I trust that our guests know their limits and can designate a DD that day to get them around, or can hitch a ride with another guest. I understand that in other areas of the country people find shuttle service to be a must-have (mostly the east coast I've been told?), but we never even considered it.

Hope it works out either way!

Do you have any friends with Vans or 6-8 Passenger SUVs that could provide service Shuttle for you?

Maybe provide special parking for them so that they can get to their vehicles easier.

    Congratulations!

We are in the same boat. Shuttles in DC are very expensive and have a four hour rental minimum. We have decided to not provide shuttle service since our reception is at a hotel where most people are staying and they only have to travel three miles the church and back.

I was floored by the quotes we got too. When really it’s like only going to be an hour if that if driving. I know they have to be available 6 hours apart for a half hour but jeez! In South Jersey there’s this bus service called Jitneys and my fh thought to call their association and we were able to get one for 26 passengers for hotel/venue runs starting at 3:30- 11:30 fir$750- half the other quotes.
Maybe where you are they have something similar with a bus company?

I went to a wedding where they hired the local school bus company for a bus to shuttle back and forth. I don't know the price but they said it was way cheaper then anything else they found.

We all thought it was fun. Maybe you can look into that?

I was in the same boat. Going to get transportation to and from the venue and hotel but the price is ridiculous! Also, turns out no one is staying at that hotel so it seems everyone was planning on figuring out how to get to the ceremony on their own. Good luck but we just ditched the idea.
