Dinnerware Rentals :/

Christina, on March 24, 2015 at 2:13 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 12

Our caterer just gave us a quote for our dinnerware rentals and it was $1800. That seems high to me but I could just be delusional. Are any of you renting these items yourself? If you are, if you don't mind sharing, how much are you spending?

This is what we're getting for 130 guests:

-10" White Dinner Plates

- 8" White Salad Plates

- 7" Dessert Plates

- Water Goblets

- Champagne Flutes

- 50 Wine Glasses

- Standard Flatware set (Dinner Knife, Dinner Fork, Salad Fork, Spoon)

- 18 Black Table Linen's (120" round)

- White Folded Linens

(Including delivery, Damage Insurance, taxes, Pickup/Breakdown)

My contract includes what you listed, minus the linens. $3 per guest

That does seem a bit high to me; usually china etc costs between 50-1.00 per item, cloths probably about 20.00 each,

I don't see any bar glasses here.

    i'd ask for a breakdown.

Maybe you're right. I am just getting soooo tired of spending money I was hoping this wouldn't be this much.

Celia: I asked for one and am waiting for it. I would definitely like to see what the individual amounts are.

1800 seems high to me, but that is a lot to rent, plus add in the fees and taxes...1800 may be about right. Depends where you live. I would get another quote for a different company to compare.

I'm renting dinner plates, salad plates, glasses, and cloth napkins for about 100 people....with delivery I think they quoted me about 400 bucks. Add in the price of tablecloths, silverware, and cocktail napkins/ plastic cups for the bar, which I bought myself because I found good deals...I'm definitely under 800. But, I'm getting a lot less than you want and I live in an area where cost of living is cheap.

Ours is included in the cost of the catering which is $27.00 pp. That seems a little high but not terrible.

Ours is included in our total cost but they broke it down for us. It's about $1100 but we are only having about 90-100 guests.

Mine is about that much - a little less. But I am getting 100 wine glasses, 100 champagne glasses, 100 water goblets (I'm doing barware separately). So a little more glassware for a slightly lower price. But I am also in a smaller town, so that may have something to do with it. It does include insurance, delivery and removal. They are setting up tables, tent, dance floor, linens...I am having my caterer set the tables and the dishes will either be at the buffet or cake table. SO really not much set-up to do. Is your company setting all the tables?

This sounds super high to me, which company are you using? if your wedding wasnt 1 day before mine i would recommend the lady who is bringing all this stuff to me at a great deal- but i think she only owns so many and the turn around would be too quick

From a caterer: that seems about right but Price also varies greatly depending on the style or your dinnerware / flatware. If they are renting from a third party I would ask for the invoice if the are renting from their personal inventory then price is negotiable .
