*Ding Ding!* Kiss...

LadyMonk, on April 30, 2014 at 3:56 PM Posted in Planning 0 37

Does anyone have any creative/fun ideas to avoid the clanking of glasses to get the bride & groom to kiss during the reception? It DRIVES ME BATTY!!!

My cousin made people demo the kiss at his, but since most of those people are at my wedding I need a different idea. What have you seen that's been funny or creative?

I've seen people buy tiny bells. Not sure if that'd be less annoying than the glass clanking though...

I've been to a wedding we're the guests had to sing a song with the word love in it for the couple to kiss...it was cute.

found this on google images: https://www.google.com/search?q=kissing+menu&es_sm=93&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=plZhU8jBO5C3yASgg4LgAg&ved=0CCoQsAQ&biw=1600&bih=775#imgdii=_

@ Milwaukee_Bride The link you posted to the Kissing Menus seems cute... Seems like it would also be fun.

The kissing menu is really cute-- I've never heard of that before!!

I considered buying a cowbell and writing "kissing bell" on it for each table, but then I realized that would annoy the hell out of me and FH.

So I'm going to check back to this post and see what others are planning to do.

My sister did something so fun since this is a big thing to do at weddings in Wisconsin! She had a big bowl full of every couples names and when people started clanking the glasses they would draw a name out and make them stand up and kiss in front of everyone.. this slowly stopped the clanking of glasses but when people did everyone got a huge laugh of the couples having to get up and do it as well.

We had the DJ call the the person who was clanking to the front. They had to pick a chocolate kiss (without looking. ) if it was gold the couple would kiss. If it was silver they had to call someone up front and kiss them.

I just came across this.... Super cute.... and involves chocolate!! Haha!!

    Hershey's Kisses Kissing Game

Please no tinkling of glasses or bells rung out loud,

We'd prefer something different from this lovely crowd.

We've filled a box with Hershey chocolates and set it aside

Near the Head Table at which sit the Groom and the Bride.

If it's a kiss that you're after come forward and stand,

Now roll up your sleeve and dig in with your hand.

Reach down deep and retrieve a Kiss of GOLD,

A smooch between the Bride and Groom you'll behold.

But if you pull out a SILVER Kiss in your quest,

Then you'll be required to kiss another guest!

That Hershey's Kisses Game sounds super cute.

We're trying to think of something to do for this, as well. One of the ideas that we're tossing around is trivia questions. Haven't hashed it out completely, but we were thinking that, the table that starts the clinking would have to nominate someone to come up to the front of the room to answer a trivia question that we would come up with. If they got it right, we would kiss. If they got it wrong, then we don't. Like I said, we still haven't figured out the actual details yet, or if we're even going to do that or not, so we'll see. Definitely don't want to just kiss. I've been to my family's weddings... If you don't make them earn it, they won't stop clinking the glasses.

Excellent CHOCOLATE!!!! That would be pretty cheap and simple to execute too (maybe simplier than the menu).

You guys are amazing with the ideas.

My cousin had a kissing menu for his wedding. It was ADORABLE. My siblings and I acted out Titanic as a "charade" to get them to kiss. Other options were "example," "serenade," "trivia," "advice." Maybe some more? But there were lots of options for all kinds of people.

Have people answer trivia questions. If they get it right, you kiss, if they don't, they have to kiss someone. Our wedding planner came up witht his idea.

Someone in the older post had a donation jar (as well as another non-monetary thing). If someone donated they would match the donation and send it to a charity of their choice. Would this be tacky/rude?

Trivia is definitely an option. I can imagine FH trying to invent an entire board game...
