Dilemma

Jojo, on January 5, 2020 at 12:20 AM Posted in New York Planning 0 2
My boyfriend propose on Christmas
I’m new to this I have no idea how to get started.
All We know is that We want an intimate ceremony and reception with close friends and family which will be between 15-20 people max. We have not chosen the date but we want it on the 20th of any spring or fall month. We don’t have a budget yet but we’re looking for a nice venue that could host and carter 20 people at a decent price in NYC Any ideas would be greatly appreciatedThe other issue I would love your thought on is how we decided to go about it So we want to do a city hall weeding first with close friend and family Maybe around spring then go to eat at restaurant To celebrate mainly because our parents and some family and friend won’t be there until fall . So when comes fall we will do a church ceremony (were Christians) followed by that the reception. Well my sister thinks that that idea is stupid and why not do all in one Day with the minister and when everyone is here and it will save us money. Well we ended up having an argument over that. I kinda want another opinion.

Well, with such a small guest list, it might be nice to have everyone go to the courthouse with you for the ceremony then go to lunch or dinner afterwards.

However, if you’re set on a private elopement at the courthouse then take your families out to dinner to celebrate (and get to know each other) a few months later, that’s certainly a fine option too. Once you’re married, a church won’t likely let you have a wedding ceremony (which would technically be a vow renewal because you’ll already be married).

Congratulations on your engagement, Jojo! Welcome to the WeddingWire community Smiley smile

The PP provided some great insights. Once married your church may not allow a wedding ceremony, you would need to look into this before arranging anything and making a decision.

There are some restaurant venues listed on the WeddingWire venue directory which may be perfect for what you’re looking for. They may have a private or semi-private area you can rent - New York City Restaurant Wedding Venues.
