Different Length Bridesmaids Dresses?

has anyone ever done different length dresses for their bridesmaids before? I was thinking of doing 2 bridesmaids having short dresses and 2 bridesmaids having long dresses. What does everyone think? It would look some what like this picture

I like the look of it. And for your style wedding it would look good. I seen it done before at wedding and I don't think it looks sloppy. People don't always have their bridesmaids look completely uniformed. I've seen people make their bridesmaids have the same color and length but had different top part like one had sleeves and one had spaghetti straps and one was strapless. I've seen people have their bridesmaids in different colors, I'm not a fan of the different colors cause it doesn't look like they are bridesmaids. But I think the different length still looks good. Not only is it your wedding and you should do exactly what you want, but it's 2020 and weddings are no longer uniform and cookie cutter. Nowadays a lot of people are straying away from the traditional style and making their wedding unique to them. I say go for it.

Thank you. So far you are the only person who understands. Everyone else just tells me that they don't like it.

I'm not having a cookie cutter wedding either. We are having a casual laid back wedding. I'm wearing converse sneakers and we are having outdoor games. It really represents our personality and style.

I'm not a fan...to me it always looks like the short-dress girls have a different status than the long-dress girls. It reminds me of when you have a group of regular bridesmaids with a couple of junior bridesmaids mixed in.

Could you cut the baby in half and have everyone do midi dresses?

I think if you have people in dresses that are different lengths and different colors, it looks kind of unplanned. Since it's your wedding and not mine, it doesn't really matter what I think, but you did ask.

The only thing I have to add to this is that you mentioned that some of your bridesmaids don't feel comfortable in long dresses, so you're going to put them in short dresses, and some of them don't feel comfortable in dresses, so you're going to put them in long dresses. I'd talk to the ones who don't like long dresses and find out why. To me, that just seems picky because it's obviously not an issue with gendered clothing or body image. If you can't/don't want to get them to agree to long dresses, a high-low style could be a good compromise. For the ones who don't like to wear dresses, making them wear long dresses seems unkind. Long dresses are still dresses. A better solution there might be to have them wear jumpsuits. If you Google chiffon bridesmaid jumpsuits, you'll get a bunch of results that would look good with the style of dresses you included in your post.

I personally don't like a mix of long and short dresses and don't like short dresses on bridesmaids at all (mid-shin to ankle length slip dresses is the shortest I feel looks formal enough), but it's YOUR wedding so you do you.
