Difference Between A Tux And A Suit

Today my FBIL (the best man) mentioned that he would rather wear a suit than a tuxedo because he feels he would be more comfortable. I had no clue they are really that much different. Anyone know what the difference is? Anyone going with suits instead of tuxedos?

Suits are more casual like the kind they're able to wear to work. They have the same material everywhere. Tuxedos are dressier and have silk parts. Like the trimming, pocket area, etc.
