Didn’t enjoy my wedding

There were moments I definitely wish didn’t happen that way but overall I am happy! So maybe when you have your photos at least that’ll be beautifully captured memories

I'm so sorry Annajoy I'm still a few weeks out myself but i have a terrible feeling I will feel the same way, it's all so much stress and I can't help but to think I will be similar to you on the big day. Hopefully once you see the pictures and videos and what not you will feel differently, and it sounds like you are hearing good things about the day so that's good!

I’m sorry you feel this way. Isn’t the saying, “time flies when you are having fun?” So maybe because you blinked and it was over meant you did enjoy your time because it happened so fast and now it’s hard to think back because our brains were overloaded with adrenaline and it’s hard to keep track of what happened? I get that way sometimes. I’m like “wait, what just happened???”

I’m so sorry you’re feeling this way. I’m sure a lot has to due with all this covid crap. But I have to ask, was there not one moment that stood out and makes you smile?


I plan events for part of my job and I know I’m always anxious up to the day / start - but once it’s started I’m always in it and love the outcome. I’m hoping if we can have everything done / ready the week prior to our departure date, I’ll be able to rest easy for a few days.
I really hope when you get your pictures back you will feel different.

I feel this. A lot of how we feel about things/ remember things is the story we tell ourselves in our own head. The more you pull out even a very small detail, and when people ask you how it was you say "it was alright, but I LOVED the XYZ" or whatever, it'll help starting to cement it more positively. Hopefully as you tell yourself (or block out) the more blah or negative moments, you can be left with a better impression - and hopefully your photos fit that new happy story for you.

I'm really sorry you're dealing with this - everyone puts a lot of pressure to make this THE day. I've told everyone if my wedding (in one week..sigh) if the best day of my life, I'd rather walk into the ocean right now.

So sorry you're feeling that way. It's definitely understandable with Covid and the fact that time flies so fast on the wedding day. Hopefully there was one detail or moment you enjoyed..and eventually down the road you can feel better about the day itself.

I felt similar. We had to change our whole wedding due to COVID and there were moments it felt less special. We did our first look at our apartment instead of a venue, we didnt have a first dance either. But what really changed my outlook was letting it sink in that I married my best friend and when I look at our wedding photos I see happiness and love

I’m sorry you feel that way . I just recently had my ceremony, still waiting on the reception and I got to say I just wanted to get it over with it, but now that it’s over I kind of miss it. The morning of I did have a big altercation with my father so it made it kind of awkward, but when I was hand in hand with my husband it was the best feeling ever. I know I’m excited for the pictures. Maybe the pictures and video will cheer you up !

I think I spent soooooo long being stressed about the wedding that I didn't know how to just check those feelings at the door come the day of. If you can, I definitely recommend a lot of relaxation/decompression time the week leading up the wedding.

Once the reception actually got going I had a good time, it was just the morning of. I'm excited to see all the photos because I really didn't get to appreciate all of the little things!

Haha I think that's what happened! I saw a picture I was in and was like "I do not remember this at all". I'm excited to see all of the photos so that I can fill in all the details!

Honestly, the entire evening is such a blur that I can barely remember. Unfortunately, right when I got relaxed was when my husband got stressed (he doesn't like being up in front of people so he was anxious about the first dance and his speech). I've been able to decompress a bit and am feeling better about it, and I'm really excited to get the photos and videos back!

Haha I never wanted nor expected my wedding to be the best day of my life. I think it's definitely more enjoyable to attend a nice wedding than to host a nice wedding.

The more photos and videos I see the more I'm able to appreciate the day in its entirety instead of only focusing on the few things that went wrong. I'm excited to get the professional photos and videos back!

The more time that passes the better I feel, for sure. I think I just had a lot of stress and anxiety that I, unfortunately, was not able to reconcile or process before the wedding. Things were honestly SO CRAZY for me the weeks before my wedding - with last minute prep, family in town, and work being insane.

Now that i've had time to decompress and destress I feel better

Yeah Covid definitely destroyed my excitement and left me with mostly stress. Almost all of the things that I was most excited about (international family being together, dancing, etc.) we couldn't do. But honestly, despite Covid, we were still able to have a magical day. As I've decompressed and looked back on the photos that I do have, I have felt a lot more at peace about the day. And I am LOVING being married!

I'm actually glad you shared this. I think we all have this view that the engagement is supposed to be bliss and the wedding is supposed to be the best day of your life, and people are ashamed to share if that isn't the case for them, so we only hear stories that reinforce that narrative. You are not alone--my grandmother once told me she didn't have a single good memory from her wedding day, due to family drama. As you'll see from some guest posts, some weddings are disasters or just are too stressful or whatever. That's a huge disappointment, but the good thing is, it doesn't mean anything is wrong with you or with your marriage. As 2020 brides know, sometimes we just pick the short straw and things don't work out like we planned. I hope you can start making killer married couple memories now!

You’re right, seeing your photos and videos will likely change this outlook. I absolutely loved my wedding and was so happy the entire day. However, the feelings more than multiplied when we received out professional photos and videos!
