Didnt do a bustle...

Mandy, on August 2, 2016 at 8:16 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 24

So I didnt add a bustle to my dress when I had it altered. I had intentions of changing dresses for the reception but after reading posts on here Im not so sure. Not really sure how Id deal with my dress if I kept it on.

If you plan to wear this (and I think you should) at the reception ... You will need to get a bustle. People will step on it (and it will rip) all night.

    You have time.

You have lots of time to get a bustle. If you are wearing that dress all night, its a must!

There was someone in another thread not long ago (bustle woes, I think) who said she didn't add a bustle and it worked out okay for her. Gorgeous dress, btw.

Another alternative to a bustle is sewing in a wrist strap. Try holding up your dress that way and see if you like the look. It's also much cheaper!

I would definitely look into the bustle. You don't want anything happening to the dress which is very pretty

If you don't mind dragging the train ALL night then leave it be. A bustle will definitely be a lifesaver for you.

^^^Don't drag the train all night. At some point you'll have to pee. Do you really want the train of your wedding dress dragged across a bathroom floor?

I'm the one who didn't do a bustle. And I don't regret it. I just got married on Saturday. No one stepped on my dress at all and everything worked out just fine. My dress is really not even dirty! I was surprised. I even wore my cathedral veil during the whole reception. We didn't do any dancing, so I can't speak for that... But I walked from table to table talking to everyone with no issues. (My train was all tulle and I thought a bustle would look dumb so I skipped it. I really don't like them either.)

Here's another. Everyone was just awesome about not stepping on it!

I would get a bustle done. I wouldn't want to drag my dress around all night.

You have time to take it back and get it altered for a bustle. That's a lot of dress to be dragging around.

My train is not particularly long- i.e. its more a swoop than a train- and it would completely ruin the back of the dress- so. no bustle- plus- i'm not going anywhere- no dancing- no biggie for me.

If you plan on dancing you should get it bustled. People will try to be careful but on the dance floor all bets are off. I had someone step on the back and ripped one of the hooks for bustle.

I would add a bustle. I had one and people were still stepping on it all night. I can't imagine how it would have been with the train behind me.
