Did your hair and make up last all day?

Kim, on August 10, 2019 at 10:11 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 11
I just had my hair and make up trial done this afternoon and it went great! I did an updo, however, 6 hours later my hair pins are falling off, my lipstick is almost gone just after we had dinner (which has always been a problem of mine). I just eat my lipstick for some reason. On the wedding day, we would have to start early, and I am worried my hair and make up would not last all day. Any tips and experiences you would like to share? Thank you!

Both daughter's and my HMU lasted from before 10:30 in the morning until midnight. We both had airbrush make-up. Daughter's lipstick was perfect through the ceremony and pretty good the rest of the night. Her HMUA gave her a little "touch-up kit" to take with her, it included powder, lipstick, and probably more. Daughter put one of her BMs in charge of making sure she looked good all night, and it worked. We both had up-dos (very different styles), and while our hair looked natural and soft, it literally didn't move all day, no matter how much we danced. If you work with a professional, they should be able to set you up to look gorgeous all day/night! (In day-to-day, I am completely low-maintenance when it comes to make-up, but HMUA did a GREAT job and I felt very comfortable.) Good luck!

My make-up more or less lasted all day. I finished hair and make-up by 1pm and stayed to the end of our reception at 11:30pm. The only issue was my slight "panda" eyes, where my mascara and eye shadow smudged below my eyes, but that is very common for me. (I think it's the way my eyes crinkle when I smile, which I was doing a lot of!)

For touch-ups throughout the day, my make-up artist provided a new lipstick with the same color they used on me. As another option, our hair and make-up artists offered an add-on service where they would stay all day for touch-ups as necessary that I did not opt into.

I didn't have a hair trial because I only was able to visit PA a few times before my wedding. I just asked my stylist to load me up and almost all of my hair was pins. For make-up, she used a setting spray I ended up buying I love it so much (Urban Decay All Nighter). I also used a lipstain instead of stick so it wouldn't transfer onto my husband. It stayed pretty much the whole night in 90degree heat and 90% humidity!

I had airbrush make up too and it was great! Never tried false lashes until today! Held up pretty well but it sure felt weird at first.

My hair pretty much held up, it's just that the hair pin was making me paranoid. I did not realize how much hair pins she used until I was taking them off. I had airbrush make up too and I thought it was wonderful! The lipstick on the other hand, I will let my HMUA know about it.

Not all HMUA provide touch up kits or full-sized products. If you like the color and will wear it again, it may be worth asking the HMUA for the brand, formula and color of the lipstick and order yourself one to have it on hand throughout the night just in case. At minimum it gives you peace of mind. If you don’t use it on your wedding day you can use it on your honeymoon or whenever!

I had my hair and makeup done professionally and it lasted all day. By the time I went to bed it still looked good so I kept the makeup on and wore it the next day too. It was airbrush makeup. My updo was still holding its style but it was a messy updo so having a few strands fall out by the end of the night didn't hurt the overall look.

I just had my makeup trial yesterday and with the exception of my lipstick (which kind of disappeared after scarfing down a burger at 7:30pm as my first meal of the day) it lasted from 10:30-1am... it was a very long day. My makeup person said she would have a lipstick for me to keep for touch-ups which I will probably need, even though I don't plan on scarfing any burgers day of, and I am going to make sure my MOH has some extra lash glue since I pulled them off around 1 pm after my left eye kept watering thanks to a loose inner edge that kept stabbing my eye. Even with the teary eye, the airbrush makeup stayed put perfectly... so I guess it was a good testSmiley smile It never looked cakey or cracked contrary to most makeup i've ever worn. I have hair next weekend so I'll try to remember to come back and let you know, since that will also be a VERY long day.

I highly recommend air brush makeup. Mine lasted all day in the Florida heat. The only problem I had was one of my lashes started to come off but I had lash glue in my bag so problem solved. My hair never moved and was pinned nice and tight.

I used a Kylie Lip Kit and my lipstick stayed on 8+ hours after eating, drinking, talking, and dancing. My hair stayed really well too. Did you use a good hair spray, and maybe a styling mousse prior?
