Did you sell your wedding dress after the wedding?

Okay, I know this sounds bad- but I'm only wearing the dress once, will have the photos to prove it, and don't think my kids will want to wear it (I know the style of my mother's is completely different than the styles today). However, I wonder if I should keep it for sentimental value. My concern...

As much as I adore my dress... I will be trying to sell mine after the wedding. Even if I only get alittle but back that's money we could use rather than it sitting in a box in my closet. It's very formal so I know I wouldn't wear it again to anything.

I bought mine from someone who thankfully wasn't sentimental. It was an older style and no one could get it anymore. Plus I'm wicked cheap. The seller and I actually hit it off and we're great friends now. She and her husband are coming from Canada for our wedding so she can see her dress in action again!

I've seen my dress sell three times on the preowned site within the last 8 or 9 months since I picked it. However, I don't think I'll be selling mine...at least right away. My mother bought it for me and it's really beautiful. I think it depends on what dress it is whether it will sell.

I kept mine. I had it cleaned and preserved in a box with my veil. I couldn't part with it. I loved my dress! And while I will have it available for my daughter to wear should she want to, I will understand if she doesn't. I just had to keep it for some reason.

I'm keeping mine. I put it on about a week ago and wore it while watching tv. I love my dress too much.

I've mentioned donating it, and DH gave me the death glare. He's more attached to it than I am. I'm going to keep it for a few more years and then decide what to do with it.

I'm keeping mine. It'd also be pretty hard to sell with the blue dinosaur embroidered inside of the dress. While I know our girls probably won't want to wear the dress they may be interested in using some of the lace for a veil or bouquet wrap. Plus I just like the idea of holding onto my wedding dress.

Mine got damaged beyond repair, so there's no way I'd be able to sell it or even donate it. I held onto it in case DH and I had decided to do a Trash the Dress (after all, it's not much good for anything else at this point), but now that it's just sitting there for months collecting dust, I might just toss it. It sounds awful, but to see it you would know it's beyond salvaging (I didn't pay much for it, so you get what you pay for)

I sold my regret dress. Only paid 100 and got almost that but it was an older style of dress. With my current one I will sell after. It won't need any alterations so I have that going plus I will be throwing in my veil and crinoline slip.

I've sold a dress on preownedweddingdresses.com. I also had it listed on craigslist and facebook. No responses for about 2 months until I slowly started reducing the price, then BAM! listed it for a great price and had 10 serious responses in 2 days and sold it the following day. I think the secret is just that you can't expect to make much of your money back on it. List it for 75% off and watch the offers roll in. No, you won't make much money off of it, but you'll be $200 richer than before and not have a wedding dress taking up space in your house. I say go for it if you're not the sentimental type.

The dress I sold was one I bought online and couldn't return. It was beautiful and in perfect condition, but too small. Now I have a different dress for my wedding and when I told FH I was planning on selling this one too his initial reaction was "Noooooo! That's your wedding dress!" hahaha I told him fine, but we'll store it in your half of the closet if you want it so badly. I give it a month until he wants to get rid of it. lol. I love my dress but I'm not sentimentally attached to it. Also, I told FH I'd rather save the veil I handmade and the wedding jewelry. Takes up much less room and still a sweet memento to keep from the day.
