Did you regret not having a reception?

For me, the reception is just as fun as the ceremony. It's a time to talk & drink & dance & celebrate & spend time with your loved ones celebrating your marriage. Could you do something very small and affordable?

We are having our wedding in the mountains of Montana with approximately 20 guests including us. He's perfectly fine with just us 2 but I told him I need my family there (only child here) so we compromised and are having immediate family only. But secretly I still want a gathering with my aunts and uncles back home.

If you have more than just the two of you there, you need to have a reception after the ceremony--but it can be as simple as a meal for those who attended.

I feel like this is a personal decision and each person will have a different take on it based on their life experiences. I would encourage you and your FS to think long and hard about what you to do for your wedding. If an elopement and long honeymoon is it, then go for it. Try not to think about regret, and if you will have regrets in the future

Perhaps for your 10 year anniversary, you could have a vow-renewal followed by a big reception
