Did You Cry When You Found Your Dress?

In so many wedding-related movies and TV shows that I've seen, the bride almost always cries when she says yes to her dress. In so many wedding-related movies and TV shows that I've seen, the bride almost always cries when she says yes to her dress. It's a super sweet moment to watch, as you can tell the bride feels happy and beautiful. Seeing one of these shows recently, I thought back to my dress shopping days. I did not cry when I picked out either one of my two dresses, though definitely felt excited about the dresses I chose! I'm not a very emotional person to begin with, so I'm not surprised that I didn't cry.


But then I wonder, how common is this? Do people usually only cry in the movies when they choose their dress? Or do many people get emotional in this scenario? Did you cry when you said yes to your dress?

    Dress shopping wasn't a huge deal to me either. It was fun to try on different dress styles, though I made my decision with more of a logical mind instead of an emotional mind.

    Totally agree that when you know, you know! Awesome that you knew it was your dress when you tried it on! Did you find your dress at the first shop you went to? Or did you visit other dress shops as well?

    Yes, I did; but for completely different reasons. I cried out of frustration. I got married during Covid and so many places weren’t permitting customers to try on dresses where I live. I had to buy dresses, try them on then return them. I was so disappointed that I just picked the first dress that I didn’t hate; but I didn’t love the dress. After buying over 15 dresses and returning them, I was exhausted.

    A bummer that the beading caused a bad reaction, but a good thing that you waited to buy it so that you didn't end up having to buy two dresses. Awesome that you found another dress that you love!

    That is so frustrating!! I can totally understand why you cried. I'm glad that the dress shops at least allowed you to return the dresses if they didn't work out - many dress shops have an "all sales are final" policy. Good to hear you found one that worked out.

    I did teared up a little when I found my dress bc it was the dressed that I fell in love with it. Everyone has different emotions when it comes to finding their dresses whether the cry, facial expression etc. Once you find your dress the emotion that will feel at that moment shines through. You know that it is the one (your dress)

    I kept my expectations very low when dress shopping. I didn’t expect to buy a dress at the bridal shop I went to. I mostly wanted to get a better idea of how things looked *on me* instead of just seeing pictures.


    But then I had the absolute Moment. I tried on a bunch of dresses and liked two. I tried those two on again with full accessories. Adding this gorgeous cape veil just MADE the second dress. I stepped out of the dressing room and my mom and bridesmaids started crying. I went to the mirror and I started crying. It was the absolute TV moment I never thought anyone had in real life. ❤️

    I definitely wasn’t expecting to, but when I said “yes” I cried like a baby!! I was so overwhelmed with emotions and happiness. I’ve been with my fiancé since I was 17 though, so I’ve been dreaming of this moment for a very long time. ❤️

    To be honest I did cry, but my dad had just passed the year before and that emotion took over. I don’t think I would’ve cried if not for that major thing in my life. Everyone is different and shows excitement in their own special ways.

    I consider myself an emotional person and I definitely did not cry when I said yes to my dress. I also assumed I would because that's how it's portrayed on movies/tv so that was weird. I said yes and was then like "okay, what do we do now?" - definitely not like they make it seem lol
