Did you consider the season when picking your dress/attire?

I've seen a few posts lately about whether to add sleeves to their dresses for a cooler-weather wedding (I've posted that myself as it happens!) and it got me think about to what extent you considered the weather/season/environment/venue when picking your dress.

We are supposed to be getting married (covid willing) in mid-September in the Southern Highlands, which tends to be quite warm and mild during the day, but gets cold as soon as you step into the shade. I have always loved the look of sleeves but there weren't really any dresses to be had here in Australia which had them, so I just bought extra fabric and decided I might have them added by my alterations lady. Now, with the threat of covid lockdowns continuing, we might end up having to postpone, in which case I probably won't need them after all.

Either way, I have a cashmere wrap with my new initials embroidered on it that I can potentially wear if I do get cold and that's my solution.

Likewise, I picked my shoes wholly on sentiment, and they are not really suited at all to our ceremony location, but I don't care!

So! Were you practical, did you pick your dress based on what you expected the conditions to be, or did you think, screw it, this is the one day of my life I get to wear x (a skintight strapless gown, a giant ballgown, a long veil) even though it's going to be y weather (below freezing, icy, extremely humid, taking place on a sandy beach, etc) and gosh darn it I'm going to do it regardless of how impractical it ends up being!

If you're already married, did you wish you'd been more/less practical? Tell us all!

Yes, I suppose packing restrictions must be considered too! But hopefully the kind of dress you'd always imagined was light anyway!
