Did i say 'yes' to the (right) dress?

Kat19, on July 15, 2019 at 9:17 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 30

Do you ever go out to eat and have your mind set on a certain entree, and you're so sure you're going to order that one, but then the waiter comes, and you instantly change your mind last minute? Well, that's me with food...and now apparently with wedding dresses.

For 2 months, I've been in love with dress 1 and compared ALL other dresses to it. But something was bothering me about it. Was it too simple? Was it boring? I always wanted to incorporate some lace, so I was surprised at how much I loved this simple mikado gown. I also love off the shoulder dresses in general, so that was a plus.

Then I saw the dress 2 and fell in love with that one, too! It had the simple lace detail I was drawn to, the romantic neck line, pops of pearl detail, all while being set in the mikado, trumpet silhouette. After lots of thought and internal pressure, I ended up choosing dress 2! But as soon as I paid for it, I felt a pang of regret. I am still in love with the first one, and dream of wearing it one day. Is this normal? It's like a breakup. I can't seem to move on! Please pretend I'm your BFF and give me reasons to get over it. HAHA. [Note: I wear 'off the shoulder' dresses to pretty much every fancy function, so I thought I would give the FH something different to look at with dress 2]

It's totally normal to have doubts! I came down to two dresses - I was super torn. My entourage encouraged me to get the dress that I have now. I wasn't 100% on board, and I still kept thinking about the other dress. Fast forward to now and I absolutely love my dress!

I love dress two! It’s very pretty. Dress one is nice but plain in my opinion.

I totally get what you are saying, especially about making a meal selection haha! Both dresses are absolutely beautiful. Is there any wiggle room to change your order to dress #1? If so, go back in and try it on for another spin.

If not, I would take a day to mourn dress #1 then delete all your photos of it and focus your attention on dress #2 and why you chose it. It has the neckline, lace, and is something exciting/new for your FH! It is a great dress, and you will look lovely on your wedding day.

I think number 2 is prettier. Number 1 is nice but kinda plain.

I totally get what you're saying about the food thing. I personally prefer dress 2 to dress 1. There are still elements that are similar. Both skirts are satin and have a similar shape. If you want off the shoulder, maybe you can incorporate that in alterations. Also, I personally think lace is just as timeless as all-over satin! Unless you have the budget to get dress 1, the best thing to do is just focus on what you love about dress 2 and push dress 1 out of your mind. There is no sense in dwelling in "what ifs" if you can't do anything about it except make yourself go crazy.

I love both however I completely see why you purchased dress #2. I as well love lace 🥰

also like you said with dress #1 its a similar silhouette to what you’ve worn before (off shoulder).
I think you made the right decision. However you’re the bride so it’s ultimately up to you. If it’s any consolation I too have had dress doubts. I really wanted to have my dress custom made and/or be able to wear like 10 dresses on the day of. However those options were not just unfortunately out of my price range but also irrational and impractical...but I still wanted to do that. 😂 I was strongly torn between at least 3 different dresses at point. For awhile. Then like someone else has said on here..I mourned a bit for the others but once I considered pictures, walking down the aisle to my best friend, & being myself.....I knew deep down I’d picked the right one and all doubts melted away and never returned.

You look stunning in both! Dress 2 just stands out more, seems more special. Follow your heart, just shut out all the chatter in your head and listen to your heart.

I'm glad you've gotten over the dress woes! I hope to get there someday (soon). lol. 95% of my entourage loved dress 1 - the one I didn't choose. Of course!! Smiley tongue

Thanks for that suggestion! You are right - it is like a state of mourning. Haha. That sounds so dramatic for a dress, but it's pretty true. I just need to shift my focus off the dead and gone dress and move forward. Smiley smile I don't know about deleting the photos. I have such a hard time with that. I still have photos of my first (now ex) bf years and years ago (who is NOT my FH) LOL, but shhh....no one has to know. Smiley laugh

Dress #1 just screams romantic, timeless and classic. I know what you mean by wanting your FH to look at something different but I think #1 is beautiful. I'm not much of a plain girl( i like bling and lace lol) But that dress is just gorgeous! #2 is very pretty too.
