Did i mess up my invitations / rsvp?

Kim, on May 16, 2019 at 5:39 AM Posted in Planning 0 20
So I finally ordered invitations and RSVP cards last night from shutterfly. However this morning, I realized I forgot to include our wedding website! I meant to put it at the back of the rsvp card (for other details), but because I've been frustrated with trying to get the invitations done, I totally missed it. I do not want to order extra inserts as that would be more money. I don't know if they will let me fix it (too early to call them), or just move on without the website. This is so disappointing.

If you just ordered them call Shutterfly before they start printing and ask can you add the website.

I would try to call them! I bet you can edit the order. If you can’t I wouldn’t buy an extra insert, I would just print out something on your home computer with the website on it, I’m not sure how your guests are but I’m pretty sure the only people who really even looked at mine were the wedding party haha most of my other guests don’t know websites are a thing so it might not be worth the extra money for a matching insert

    Hi Kim!

Oh no Smiley sad I'm sorry to hear this happened!

It's totally worth reaching out to Shutterfly customer service and seeing if you can cancel the order, or edit it.

    Have you done this yet?

Putting your website on the back of the rsvp card is probably not the best idea if they have to send the card back to you. If they are supposed to rsvp online, I would definitely call to get it fixed, but include it on the front of the card. Do not assume everyone will look on the back.

If it’s too late to add the website you can buy a stamp with the web address on it and manually add it when you get your invites. I bought a stamp for our return address on Etsy. It was super easy and there a TON of options.

Shutterfly has great customer service so they may fix it for you! Otherwise you can look into making a small business card sized enclosure to include with your website on it. Either way it should be a relatively inexpensive fix.

Word of caution - I hesitate to put any important info on the back of anything. Turning a card over may seem like the obvious thing to do, but you'd be surprised how many people don't.

We included our website on our save the dates but we still have had a lot of people who couldn't find it or asked us about it. So, after we ordered our invites we ordered little business card sized inserts to put in with our invitations that say "for more information, please visit our website at..." To do this we actually ordered the place cards that matched our invitation suite and just had every one of them say that message instead of names. It worked, and it wasn't very expensive. So, maybe you could consider something like that?

I didn't have my website up and running yet when I bought my invites so it didn't get added either (bought them a year early because of a great deal and since we already had the date and place I thought why not) so I am going to use my Cricut to write any details I forgot to add.

You could also use VistaPrint and do a business card with some extra details. I just did that for a "call anyone but the bride" card and I think it cost me like $20 for 250 cards (standard is $10 I think but we did front and back with color so it was extra) and they ALWAYS have those kinds of promos going.

You have a really good point! I didn't think of this.

I did include the website on our save the dates as well. So... it may not really be a big deal. Most of the out of town guests have the accommodations taken care of. I may just be worrying for nothing?

You have a really good point! People may not even know there's information at the back. I didn't even think this.

I would try! Unfortunately, I can't be on the phone with them at the moment because of work.

I have heard of people getting clear stickers with the wedding website on them and putting them on the invitation somewhere? Maybe in a worst case scenario?

Also you could check with your local print shop. They would print little "business cards" with the website if you can't get it fixed. It would only be very cheap. I went with a local print shop to print 5x7 invitations and it was only $25

You can also just send out a mass email to everyone letting them know the website address!

We included it on the back of our save the dates and also on the front of the accommodations/map card that went with the invitations. From what I noticed on the WeddingWire website tracker, more people visited the website from the accommodations card over the save the date.

One of the best pieces of advice I have ever received was from a professor when we had to create a map project for a presentation and he told me I should include something that I thought was silly since it was common sense. He said that I should create my map as if people are stupid because what seems like someone can figure it out, they will still ask. So to me, flipping to look on the back is like a reflex, but to everyone else, it may not even occur to them (does not mean they are actually stupid though)!

As PP have said I would suggest calling them since you just placed the order. Another option is did you put the website on the STDs?? If so then people already have the website so it doesn't need to be put on the invites as well.

Absolutely reach out to Shutterfly customer service. I almost guarantee they will let you reorder for free... they did that for me when I made a mistake on mine!
