Did i make my rsvp date too late?

Erika, on June 6, 2018 at 4:10 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 25

Wedding is 8/18, final headcount is due to venue two weeks before the wedding. I made the RSVP date July 25th to give me a week of "gathering the stragglers". Thoughts? Now I am wondering if I should have given myself more then a week...

Eh it's a little tight but I think a week should be okay.

Yeah, I wish i did a bit more, but I think I will be okay. Also, the majority of people are OOT, so I am assuming I will receive a lot of the RSVPs earlier than later, as people will need to book accommodations

I think you'll be alright, if anything, it'll just cause a LITTLE more of a time crunch, but hopefully you won't have too many stragglers so you don't need to cram too many into one day! Definitely doable though!

Also, hi date twin! I'm sending my invites out ASAP too- just a tad behind.

Same wedding date. Our RSVP date is July 20th. Our head count is due August 3rd. I think it's enough time to track down everyone who hasn't RSVPed.

I'm only giving myself a week. Our RSVPs say "The favor of your reply is requested on or before january 5th."

On or before being key so hopefully people get the hint! But its right after the holidays and I'm sure some will get lost in the mail (fingers crossed they dont though) so I know I will have to follow up with some people.

AH! That was such a good idea! Yeah, Im hoping I will receive them all sooner then later since 80% of our guests need to book hotels/travel. Fingers crossed and hopefully I am not jinxing it!

I think you'll be okay as long as you stay on top of it during the week in between!
When I was following up ony RSVPs I still had 12 or so people who I hadn't heard back from by the time I was giving my final headcount, and none of them decided to show up at the last minute so you should be fine

I wanted more time but my mom insisted on 2 weeks so that's what we have. It'll be fine. It all works out. 😊

That's what I plan on doing! The day after RSVPs are due, I'm just going to spend an hour or so texting, calling, or emailing people that didn't respond. If I don't hear from them by the end of the week, I'll take that as a no!

I truly hope it is enough time for you. Because as for me it’s been a problem! My wedding date is August 10 & I sent them out way in advance with returning date on or before May 30 due to catering, cake final count, centerpieces & I’m still sitting waiting. When I did the last reminder on Friday June 1st I had people tell me “Oh I totally forgot to mail it back, oh I can’t find it but put me down for x amount, oh I haven’t made a decision if I’m taking my kids or coming alone.” it’s bleeping frustrating!!! Majority of my guest are from out of town as well. I’m like what the hell did I pay for postage for?? If I hadn’t paid for the postage then they have complained about too. I don’t like chasing anyone around at all but unfortunately you do have to follow up with your guest. I have one friend that told
me she mailed it out on May 29 because she forgot and I have yet to receive it so I’m thinking she really didn’t mail it out because we live in the same state which have only taken 2 days from in state guest for it to get to me. Very very frustrating!!! Good luck!!

I think you will be totally fine. You can start asking people a few days before the RSVPs are due if neededSmiley smile To be honest, people are a pain. I got only about a third of RSVPs back even doing it online! And a lot of people "just don't know". Be kind but be firm, I don't think people realize how crucial a number is and how expensive it is per head!:/

What did the venue recommend? We did 5 weeks because they needed a final head count 3 weeks before.

I am 10.8 and just started working on invites but I put 9.1 as the cut off date figure a week should be plenty of time to reach out to people?

It may be more stressful in that amount of time but you’ll just have to make sure you’re calling people right away because for me it took a day or two for some people to get back to me.

I'm getting married 8/10. My doc that came with my venue package said it's due two weeks before the wedding, but that many times the bride had them due a month before that date for stragglers and making sure the final h ewad count is set. So I put Ju e 27th as my RSVP date

I have same wedding date too. My invites went out Monday, our RSVPs are due 7/13 and due to venue 8/3. This gave me more cushion to track people down.

I made mine exactly one month before our wedding and we were fine. Everyone that didn't respond via mail let me know for sure when I contacted them for follow up.
