Did anyone use a cupcake for the cake cutting?

We did a small cake for us and cupcakes for guests.

I’ve never seen anyone do a cupcake cutting. I’ve seen a couple interlock arms like you would for a champagne toast and each take a bite out of a cupcake before cupcakes were served to the guests. It’s a cute alternative if you don’t want to get a small cake but still want it to make it a part of the evening.

Were having a small one tier cake on top of our cupcake stand. But the bakery was kind and gave us that for free since my sister works at their bakery lol. I like the arm lock and taking a bite out of the cupcake too! That's really cute and would make a great picture

I have never seen a cupcake cutting, but I think you could make it absolutely adorable!

I'd recommend a small cake. If you have a cupcake, you'll only make one "slice" and the cupcake will fall in half, which might be fine, but I think making the two slices and pulling a wedge of cake out together better illustrates the "teamwork" aspect of a marriage and makes the cake cutting have slightly more meaning than just holding a knife together.

You can easily cut a cupcake and it's not weird. Makes them easier to eat actually. If you get a small cake just for the cutting, it defeats the purpose of the cupcakes because there's confusion on what happens with the remainder of the small cake. Do what works for you.
