Did anyone have venue regret?

I'm asking because I came across a review of my dream venue and in hindsight the price difference seemed like so much at the time, but I'm sure I've spent that much on stupid stuff during the course of our 20 month engagement. I loved that place before the tour, and loved it even more afterwards....

I loved that place before the tour, and loved it even more afterwards. FH's attitude was "there's nothing wrong with it but its too much." Sigh. Our venue is nice (looks wise, its not gorgeous or breathtaking), but its a lot more work to make it look half as nice as the other place. Am I alone in this?

I have venue regret. It's not debilitating, but it's kinda depressing. I love my venue, but it's not my dream venue. I'd get married in an old greenhouse with frosted windows, high ceilings, hanging chandeliers and lots of green ivy and white flowers if I had my pick of dream venue. The one we chose is beautiful and it's in the perfect location and the price is right, but it's not my dream venue.

No not at all! I had the same thing happen to me. I chose a place because it was such a good deal! It will be about 93 dollars per person after tax and that includes EVERYTHiNG! There is nothing wrong with my venue, it's just very plain. They are more known for their delicious Italian food. Most of the other places I looked at were well over 100 per person not including tax. While I do wish my place was a little more fancy, I am happy that I will be able to afford it in the long run.

One reason we chose our venue was the size. With a huge guest list of 356 people we needed to be sure we could hold all of them even though we expected about 100 declines. Our guest list included children and plus 1 for everyone 18 and older. Unfortunately, due to some real crappy stuff on FH's side, the vast majority of his family is not coming. We have a final count of 187. Still a big wedding, but we will won't fill the space & I'm worried it'll feel empty.

Nope. I saw the photo of my venue's ballroom a couple of years before we got engaged, in a bridal magazine. I pointed it out to my mother and said that's where I wanted to married. She had been there for a cousin's wedding about 7 years before ours. She also knew the couple in the photo; the groom was the nephew, of one of her friends.

It was such a perfect evening, guests are still talking about how it was the best wedding they ever attended, and a few years have passed.

We are having ours on a naval base since FH is active duty navy & although beautiful and affordable they are very inflexible and have a lot of restrictions and fine print in the contract (our fault for not reading). Word of advice to all future brides- read the contract lol!
