Did anyone have their JVL ring sized?

Jean, on January 28, 2012 at 9:07 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 20

So FH's JVL ring came in the mail yesterday Smiley smile!! Same time that i got my free wedding planner (it was like Christmas!!), however, FH'S ring needs to be sized down a quarter inch. Did anyone have their JVL ring sized?? If so, did you take it to a local jeweler, or do it through them??

If it's the titanium one, I don't think it's possible to size a titanium ring! Smiley sad

Like the other girls said you can't. You might be able to exchange it for another ring in the right size. Remember to have some room so your fingers can swell. Also it should be tight over the knuckle when taking it off or on.

You have to send them back to JVL for a different size. We had that problem and are awaiting ring number 3... It costs $6 to exchange the size, we did go in and get sized also and the ring was still to big. I almost asked the representative if they did this on purpose to make up for the ring being only $25. I also noticed they charged $295 and at the jewelry store we had FH sized at the same ring was only $149. It's still a deal though and in all honesty can't complain.

We sent it back for a bigger size and they sent the right one promptly, only had to pay the $6 fee and cost of shipping the ring back.

So, they run on the Big size huh?

@ Christina P. do you know if the store you got him sized at did the normal ring sizer? Or did they measure him with the comfort band ring sizer?

When we sized my FH they had 2 ring sizers - one for gold/white gold and one for man made metals. He sized at 11 for the gold and 10 for man made. His JVL ring is still a little big at a 10 but not terrible.

    Sizing tips

Tungsten Carbide Rings with Comfort-Fit Designs

Most tungsten rings on the market nowadays are made in comfort-fit design where the inside of the tungsten ring is curved. The surface of the tungsten carbide ring that is actually touching the finger is less. Therefore, for the same ring size, a comfort fit tungsten carbide ring might feel larger than a non-comfort fit gold band ring.

Some people have a hard time get the correct ring size when buying a new tungsten carbide ring because they use a gold wedding band ring that they currently own for measuring. If the ring is made in non-comfort-fit design, or straight fit design, a tungsten carbide ring in the same size will be too large. A rule of thumb when using a this method is to order your new tungsten ring one-half size smaller if your current gold band ring is not a comfort fit ring.

The Width of a Tungsten Carbide Ring

Remember that a ring size alone does not determine how a ring fits. Especially when tungsten carbide wedding rings are mostly worn by men, many styles have widths of 9 millimeters or even 12 millimeters. If when you wear size 10 3mm wedding band it feels snug, you probably need a size 10.5 for a tungsten ring of 11 millimeter width.

I don't know what to do...FH fits perfectly into a 10 1/4 and I ordered a 10.5; a 10 would be too small. FH shook his hand last night and it didint fly off, but he said that if it went down a quarter of a size it would be perfect...but like Hayley said, maybe it just feels loose yet fits perfectly

Jean ~ they do custom sizing if you contact them.

Do you think he wants a 10 1/4?

Or can you go to a jeweler and try on comfort bands to see if a 10 comfort band Would work?

I didn't know about the difference in sizing because of the metal. But the fit makes a huge difference. My DH has Rose bowl ring that is 15, but his wedding band is 14. Both fit perfectly, but the Rose bowl ring is much larger overall.

Jean, I would guess ..... according to the articles I've been reading..... that he would be fine with the 10 and it would fit like his friend's non-comfort fit. Try to drag him, or tell him it might cost more in shipping if you need to exchange again. ~ good luck ~

Mrs S, that makes sense. Wider the band the bigger you need the ring.

Yep Hailey we had him sized in a comfort fit. I think they may just run a little bigger, or maybe it was the pace we went to to be sized? "the world may never know!" Smiley smile either way it is still a good deal for great quality!

@ Christina ~ That's cool, Just wondering for future tips. Smiley smile

Maybe it is the weather too? colder today? Maybe retaining too much water when you went sizing..... as you said, "The world may never know!"

Do you know how long it usually takes to ship the JVL rings? Sounds like a great deal but we are getting married in 57 days soo just wondering if they take a long time to ship!

What were your regular ring sizes if you don’t mind me asking ? And what sizes did you wind up having to exchange for ? I want to try to avoid exchanging lol. Thanks in advance
