Destination wedding dj or not?

Stephanie, on November 27, 2019 at 11:43 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 5
Hey all!
Just a question.... I’m having my wedding in Mexico at an all inclusive resort. Anyone here doing the same or have had a wedding at a resort? I’m curious what you did for music. My package comes with a sound system. Did you use the sound system provided or hire a DJ? Please give me details and what you would recommend. DJs are not cheap but I also don’t know if it will be a hassle to use the sound system provided.
Thanks!

I got married in Mexico as well at an outside venue and hire a DJ. For our welcome party in the all inclusive resort I payed for the sound system package instead of a full DJ service because of the cost. The package included a person to overlook the sound system at all times and take care of playlist. I gave them options of what style of music but I also made a playlist just in case. In general it worked out great for us for the party but for a wedding I would recommend the DJ. Is always a smoothly transition and the know how to keep the party going.

Hey! I’m having a destination wedding in Puerto Rico about 20 guest. Since it’s small I opted out of a dj and am using a sound system and my iPad I created playlist on that for different parts of the wedding. If your wedding is small I would pass on the dj

We have hired a violinist and a guitarist to play for the ceremony and then move towards more of a background music type vibe.

    Hey there, Stephanie Smiley smile

If it’s within your budget to have a DJ, I would advise you to consider having one.

Along with keeping guests entertained, there are a ton more advantages to having one. They enforce your day-of-timeline, ensure the reception runs smoothly, often times they supply lighting, set the general mood of the celebration, and serve as emcee.

We're doing a DW in Mexico and they offered a sound system at a cost for us to use or to hire a local dj, we decided since music is a huge part of what makes a great party, we're flying our DJ in with us (he also happens to do Photography and Videography) so for less that what it would cost to pay for each of these separately he's doing all three for just the cost of travel. It works out to be less and we know his work so it's a win win!
