Dessert table or cake?

In addition to our small decorated cake, I am considering either getting sheet cakes or having a varied desserts table. (Either would be purchased from a grocery store) Anyone have any advice as to which would be more cost effective, easy and guest pleasing in the long run? I'm researching prices...
In addition to our small decorated cake, I am considering either getting sheet cakes or having a varied desserts table. (Either would be purchased from a grocery store) Anyone have any advice as to which would be more cost effective, easy and guest pleasing in the long run? I'm researching prices for cakes and desserts, (Sam's and Costco) but I'm not sure how to calculate the amount of mixed desserts I'd need to be able to compare. Also, would guests eat more dessert if there were multiple options as opposed to only cake?

BTW, I've never been to a Sam's Club but the bakery at Costco is really good.

I think a dessert table is fabulous, and having bags or boxes for guests to take extras home doubles as favors!

Hey! Did the person you hired also make the black and white cookies? I’m thinking of ordering some as our favors.

That's phenomenal! It's always awesome to know people who have expertise that can be put to good use for your wedding! Not to take advantage of anyone of course, but you trust them and know they'll do a good job, and yes, they usually do give you a deal. (Maybe as their wedding gift) We know musicians and a DJ, and one of my bridesmaids works at a florists shop, so she's helping us DIY our flowers!

Good to know, thanks! We just recently got a Costco membership so we haven't tried the bakery yet.

I totally get it! That's such a bummer. Maybe you and the hubby can get some key lime pie or cheesecake at some exotic place on your honeymoon. Smiley smile

And I'm sure there's always going to be guests that want cake, so cake AND desserts seems to be the best way to please everhone

Yes, she made everything. If you are looking to have B&Ws for favors, check out The Black and White Cookie Company. They’re in NY and they do cookies for parties and corporate events with custom packaging. My group (I work in Special Events for a big media company) ordered them for a company wide event and they did a great job. Zabars also makes great minis but i don’t think they package them individually.
