Some of our personal favorites include Rice Krispie treats, chocolate chip cookies and brownies. Would you, as a guest, feel as though we were being cheap if we offered desserts like these? We've also discussed petit fours but none of the local bakeries offer options that sound all that appetizing to us. We are NOT planning on making these items ourself, just want to make sure guests would actually enjoy them. Thanks!

    Agree with this.

I personally don't think cookies, brownies, and rice krispy treats are "desserts"... you could have one for dessert but at a wedding I expect something plated: cake, pie, gourmet treats. Something you wouldn't find at a school bake sale basically...maybe that is snobby of me but I just don't think it's enough.

I think cake alternatives are refreshing! Cutting into a giant brownie would be so cute!

Food and dessert are major parts of a wedding that guests will remember. The furthest you go from the norm the better. We did different flavor cupcakes from a local bakery which were amazing. We did a burger bar and that was a huge hit, as well as a popcorn bar for favors which again was a huge hit. Anything unique with food is a must. And you two are paying for and will have left overs so get things you like, that's all that matters.

We are trying to avoid the plated desserts simply because we know a majority of our guests will not be sitting still long enough to eat it! However, we will definitely look into also adding some "fancier" desserts (maybe some eclairs, lemon bars, cannolis, etc.) to appeal to a wider variety of tastes.

We are doing a dessert bar, however we have cake for those that will want it - little on the less then every one sine I do know a few guests that hate cake. But there is so much dessert everyone will be happy.

I think if you cut a cake, you need to serve cake.
