Dessert ideas

gratia01, on January 12, 2020 at 7:14 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 8
I’m having trouble deciding what to do about dessert. We don’t really want to do a traditional wedding cake mainly because they’re extremely expensive where I live. We were considering doing tiramisu and using that for the cake cutting, but I want to have a couple options for those who may not like it. What would be a good alternative dessert to pair with tiramisu?

Maybe just a single tier cake for your cake cutting and then various bite size desserts for yourself guests.

How about a small wedding cake to cut or even a cupcake? I called a local bakery and they can do a 2 layer wedding cake. Basic, simply, not too fancy $80. I’m also considering smaller and the cupcake. Our venue allows outside dessert so lemon cakes from Costco, sheet cake (Costco) brownies and mini cupcakes from bakery. The bakery does regular size cupcakes for 75 cents. I live in Chicago.

Good idea! Bakeries here charge $4-8 per serving of wedding cakes/cupcakes, so my original plan was to get plain cakes from Sam's Club and have my cousin decorate them since she used to work in a bakery.

My thought is we are going to have a variety of options. The one I know for sure we are going to have are doughnut holes. There is a great doughnut shop where we live! Also thinking about the Bundtinis from Nothing Bundt Cakes.

    Good Luck with your search!

One of the bakeries near me (Southern Maryland) offers to provide a small 1-layer cake to cut for free if you buy smaller desserts from them to go with it, such as cupcakes to arrange on a cake stand so they look like a traditional multi-tiered cake or yes, tiramisu shooters. You might find that to be the best of both worlds and hopefully find a bakery with a similar deal.

Do you have a pink box donuts near you? They have party packs of various donuts that are rather inexpensive.
