Describe your wedding!

I want all the details (short version ). Is it super black tie formal, laid back and casual? What kind of meal are you offering? What kind of venue are you at? What about your ceremony? What did you prioritize with your spending? What have you spent very little on?

Saturday Afternoon in small town, New England at the beginning of fall. Church wedding, Town Hall reception. Beer and Wine, buffet dinner (home made favorites), dancing and 150 guest or so. The wedding party will be in tuxes and gowns (same with parents of...) but I am sure there will be at least one guest in jeans or a plaid shirt.

Lots of fun and celebration is the vibe. We aren't doing a lot of staged photos, we are much more a capture the day as it happens type of group.

At a 200 year old estate on a private island. Lots of booze, food, and pretty people. Good times ahead!

Biggest cost is venue and the transport there as I am covering the cost of the boat ride to the island for everyone. Not spending much on decorations as the scenery itself is enough.

Our wedding is laid back & casual, going for a rustic/shabby chic look. About 100 guests. I'm sure most people will be wearing jeans other than FH & GM's. We are serving BBQ from our favorite restaurant. It's at a brand new venue overlooking the 10th hole of the golf course where we met. Ceremony outside (weather permitting) and reception in the main hall. They have beautiful ceiling grid decorations that I am SO excited about. We are having an open bar which is outside catered so that was very inexpensive. The venue used up most of the budget but we will be there for a full 12 hours. They have a groom's suite (which has shuffleboard, a huge TV, & a pool table) and a cute little bridal suite for the ladies. Favors & flowers are tied for 2nd expensive. Below is a picture of the reception area.

We're getting married at a bourbon distillery in Kentucky. I'm cooking the food and I'm gonna have a southern buffet with things like meatloaf, BBQ shrimp, fried chicken, and lots of sides and we're gonna have a burger bar. Our cake is going to be a cupcake tower and they're going to be butter rum with butter cream icing, coffee cake with an Irish cream icing, and orangesicle with cream cheese icing. Our wedding is going to be very laid back, kids allowed (all ages venue), karaoke and dancing all night. Colors are yellow and royal blue with sunflowers. Wedding is going to be outside and the reception is going to be inside in the clubhouse. Venue is only $550 on weekdays to rent the clubhouse for 4 hours and that includes 20 tables & lots of chairs, access to the kitchen, free tours around the distillery with free samples of the bourbon, and if the venue isn't booked the night before your wedding you get the clubhouse for a free rehearsal dinner. I only need to rent chairs for the ceremony and my venue is done. Since my wedding is a year away I decided to have my wedding on a weekday and just let everyone know in advance. I have about 50 people on my guest list, and about 10-15 of them are children. Smiley smile

Pic 1 is our venue outside, how it would look during our ceremony.

Pic 2 is the inside of the clubhouse, where we would have our reception.

We are having a laid back, casual wedding. Our wedding is either going to be in a park or in a building depending on the weather, picnic style. For food, we are having sandwich wraps, chips and dip, and pie wedding cake. All of our spending is very little, as we are on a very low budget. We are having a bonfire (depending on weather) after the dinner reception and main dances like first dance, father/daughter, mother/son and etc.

We're having a simple church wedding at the church I grew up in followed by a small reception of 50-60 people at a local country club. Our colors and purple and silver. We will have purple uplighting at the reception with silver table cloths.

It will be laid back & casual. Food will be seafood (shrimp & lobster) with a chicken option for those that do not eat seafood. Salad and a few other side items, signature drinks and a dessert table including cake & s'mores. The ceremony will be on the beach in front of the water, the reception will be on the beach as well. The dress and food are the 2 most important things but photography is a close 3rd. We will be spending the least on the cakes, they will either be home made from scratch or from a small bakery we trust.

We're having a black tie wedding in New York City. The ceremony is in a Greek cathedral and the reception is at a ballroom in lower Manhattan. We didn't choose a theme or a color scheme and instead are opting to create a glamorous, chic, and elegant atmosphere for a guests. There will be lots of flowers, candles, and amazing lighting to compliment the room. I wanted to add in different textures, so we're trying to choose some amazing linens to spice things up a bit.

Our guests are being treated to a pretty extensive cocktail hour. There's everything from pasta to sushi. Following that, we're having a 5 course meal including our wedding cake and various dessert stations (smores bar, ice cream bar, and crepes). We're having a band and a DJ, as well as a photobooth to entertain our guests. I hired a cigar roller as well and we're surprising our guests with three food trucks for the "midnight" snack.

Feel/dress was supposed to be semi-formal Garden Wedding, but we had to change locations within the venue due to rain and ended up in a semi-rustic barn.

Nice, not casual food offerings, served buffet style

Venue was a old Southern Hunting Plantation

Ceremony was mixed faith at the venue incorporating elements of our Jewish and Irish Catholic backgrounds.

Spending priorities were photographer, venue, and food.

We rented a sound system for $85 and used an iPod instead of hiring a DJ for at least $500.

Alice in Wonderland Swan Lake burlesque punk ska show. Cocktail style reception with heavy aps and stations. Lounge furniture. Venue is an old theater. Ceremony in lower ballroom and reception in upper. 3 bands, 2 burlesque acts. After party at lounge down the street.

2 days prior there will be a combined bachelor / ette party. The day before welcome picnic. Should be a lot of fun. Spending is largely in venue, food and entertainment. =)

My wedding is very traditional and classic. Its a Catholic ceremony lasting 1 hour and its a very romantic feel. The colors are light pink, rose pink, cream, gold, and a bit of lavender. My church is a very traditional Catholic church, my venue is at the Double tree overlooking the bay.

We had a summer garden wedding with a giant willow tree as our arbor, and rose petals lining the aisle. White roses and ribbons decorated the branches above us during the ceremony. White chairs with teal ribbons, with blue and white lights decorating the tree for evening time. It had a very natural, classical, whimsical feel. July 4, under the stars, with fireworks and sparklers once evening fell. Lots of candles and sparkles and rose petals on the white tablecloths, and champagne throughout the night...it was perfect!

The location was free, so the main expenses were photography, food, and flowers in that order.

For me, the important part was the overall feeling of the experience, creating the atmosphere, and the personal vows we shared. The vows are the most important, everything else is secondary!
