Describe your wedding!

Munkos, on July 19, 2014 at 11:50 PM Posted in Planning 0 39

I want all the details (short version Smiley winking ). Is it super black tie formal, laid back and casual? What kind of meal are you offering? What kind of venue are you at? What about your ceremony? What did you prioritize with your spending? What have you spent very little on?

Our wedding is in the woods! Should be very beautiful.. I can't wait to see it all come together.. Extremely laid back of course. We decided against floral stuff because nature is so beautiful and it's doing our work for us so that saved a lot of extra money.. For food we decided to do a Taco Bar!

Classic southern plantation wedding. Colors are navy, gold and pinks. Smallish wedding, about 80 guests, super laid back. Ceremony is in the chapel on the plantation. Menu hasn't been decided yet, but it will be pretty fancy (we can have quail!).

Spending was prioritized on the venue and photographer....both totaling about $13,000. We are spending very little on the small details (dinner settings, decor, etc.)...hoping to keep them under $500 (yeah right).

My details are mainly pastel colors with a little glitter thrown in there Smiley smile. I'm actually having it at a very formal venue (wedding and reception), so I don't have to worry about decorating too much. It's going to be a semi formal feel. As far as spending goes, our main cost is the venue and the DJ. I'm a 5k bride, so food was out of the question, so we are just doing a cake, champaign, and dancing reception. Also very late in the evening so it wont be near a meal time. Smiley smile

Ceremony on the beach, very small and intimate. Large pillow seating, violinist, altar with a lace garland... Bridesmaids in different shades of blue in wispy dresses, bouquets of roses, Gerbera daisies, and other various red accent flowers.. Me in a lace sweetheart cut dress with a short train.. Afterwards at the reception back at the beach house we'll have a taco bar, sangria, Corona, cake, and churros to indulge on.. Lots of dancing and merriment.. Decorated with more lace Garland, Mason jar centerpieces displaying our bouquets.. I splurged on the photographer for $700, the beach house for $1500, my dress for $400, and wholesale flowers for $250.. The rest was/will be diy and the supplies are a bargain.

Outdoor ceremony next to a pond. Reception in a golf club ballroom. Dinner, booze, dancing. Budget focused on food, booze, photographer, and DJ. Decorated (I use the term loosely) with wine bottles, (fake) flowers, wine corks. Lots of chalkboard stuff too. Our placecards were little easels with little chalkboards. Favores were vodka and jack. 84 guests. It was awesome.

We're having a church wedding. We don't have a theme, but want a romantic feel for the ceremony, which will be 30 - 45 minutes. My girls (musicians, soloist and readers included) are wearing floor length dresses and the guys are in tuxedos. We'll have a live band during the cocktail hour and dinner (they will be instrumental during dinner) During the cocktail hour, our guests will have several hors d'oeuvres and 6 wines (3 red/3 white) to chose from. We haven't chosen the menu for dinner, but we have plenty of time for that. After dinner, our guests will be entertained by our DJ and later in the evening, we will serve desserts (ice cream, s'mores, candy (all chocolate) cupcakes, pies and pastries. FH has added an international coffee bar where are guests will chose from 7 blends of coffee. After the reception is over, we will go to our hotel room where will we leave the following morning for our honeymoon to Turks & Caicos.

Casual, fun, family, friends (but still a little fancy). I am a 5k bride too so our main cost is church pre-counseling, and food. We're having gourmet sandwiches and lemonade and lawn games in our pretty dresses at a winery (after the church).

    In a nutshell:

    -Modern Vegas style

-Short and sweet ceremony at Mix Lounge at Mandalay Bay

-Dinner hosted at Mandalay Bay Buffet

-Cake and cocktails in their largest penthouse suite to follow.

We've spent the most on our venue, rings, and my attire. The least on flowers... not a huge fan of flowers, so we got an upscale venue and wedding package instead.

The photo is the ceremony location... For my grand entrance I'll be walking down the staircase- which I am nervous about and why I opted for flip flops instead of heels.

1920's Bungalow turned coffee house turned wedding venue. Super cute and eclectic. Laidback and casual but nice and traditional. Vendors are about $4,000 but we're spending closer to $7,000 with dress, rings, decor, etc... Navy and blush pink colors with cherry blossom accents. I can't think of a splurge really. Everything is pretty evenly spread out cost-wise and we got great prices. Our venue is $1,650 for up to 100 guests; it includes all the tables and chairs - woohoo!!! Only spending $450-$500 on floral though - our venue has a lot of natural greenery so that saved a lot. Oh, our splurge would be a live band playing our ceremony and reception. Only $600 so an amazing price, but otherwise we would have probably just done iPod playlists for music.

Simple. whenever I'm planning any detail, I always come back to the fact that I want it to be simple but classy.

colors are brown and red, ceremony space is wood benches at a state park with the dessert reception in the adjacent covered picnic area (my profile picture).

FH and I are total foodies so we are getting married at one of the nicest restaurants in town. We rented out the penthouse room above the actual dining room so we'll get the best views.

The ceremony will be 15 mins max then going straight into a cocktail hour. After that it will be a 3 course sit-down dinner and then people will just hang out. We wanted a very laid-back wedding with really good food so we spent the most money on the venue.

The photo is of the main dining room, I couldn't find a good photo of the view from the penthouse room.

Destination Wedding-Northern MN Lodge with lots of cabins and amenities/activities. In some ways I think it will feel more like a family reunion (though including a ton of friends) or going to a kids camp when you were a kid.

Words to describe: Rustic, Family Friendly, Extended, Easy for Guests, Community, Laid Back, Cold (it iwill be November...and likely with snow), Gathering, and Big (but I know every single person invited well-only exceptions being my grooms extended family that I am excited to meet).

We have worked hard to make it a long weekend get away where we have put together a bunch of events to help us spend time with everyone (even if not at every activity).

Thursday (Brunch, Thanksgiving Dinner PM), Friday (Brunch, Rehearsal, City of Lights-Fire works, santa, sleigh rides), Saturday (Brunch, Wedding/Reception), Sunday (brunch/send off, Gift Opening, and then FH/FW RELAXING!) We are excited to have lots of full families attending and have worked hard to make it a family friendly event (bouncy houses, kids activities, babysitters lists, kids party).

Geek wedding. Very laid back. Plated dinner. Ceremony and reception at the same venue. Cute little ballroom. Only about 50-60 guests. Priority was the venue and the food. We wanted a nice place with great dinner. We aren't having any flowers at the wedding other then a couple of yellow roses here and there. So, we spent $0 on a florist.

Our wedding will be very tropical and Hawaiian. We are having our wedding at a resort in San Diego and our entire goal is to make people feel like they traveled to Hawaii without spending the $600+ plane ticket. We are going to greet people with shell leis, during our ceremony we will exchange leis as well as rings and incorporate a lot of Hawaiian sayings into the ceremony. We will have a lot of very colorful flowers, we plan to have tiki torches lining the aisle with flowers on them. The ceremony is in a tropical garden with palm leaves and greenery as the backdrop. The surrounding area has all of these lagoons and beautiful places for pictures. The cocktail hour will then be on a deck overlooking Mission Bay. We plan to have some Hawaiian songs playing during cocktail hour just like if you were enjoying Happy Hour in Waikiki. Then our reception is in a ballroom with windows overlooking the deck and people can come in and out throughout the night. The room will hopefully look very tropical with tall flower vases for our centerpieces and more Hawaiian touches like a flower at each place setting and our table names will be after places in Hawaii. We're serving a plated dinner and expect about 80 guests, most will be from out of town. Then the place we're at is really near Sea World so around 10 pm we'll get a fireworks show (for free!) so I imagine it'll be quite magical. We're doing a sparkler exit to finish off the night, then take a golf cart off to our honeymoon suite! Oh and our colors will be red and turquoise with touches of yellow and white. Our photographer was our main priority and flowers was a close second...can't have tropical without flowers. And the best part, I'm going to do a solo hula dance for my FH and then our first dance together is going to be a hula! I'd say our wedding will be pretty formal, not black tie but no Aloha shirts either.

Okay that wasn't really the short version but I got excited!

Pic 1: Area near where our ceremony will be

Pic 2: Inspiration pic of centerpieces

Pic 3: My card box that has all of my colors together essentially (and the white fabric part would be traditionally made into a wedding dress)

I'm having a beach-themed wedding. The venue is right in front of the ocean. Smiley smile My centerpieces are flowerpots, candles, and seashells. The cake will also have seashells on it and a cute cake topper (don't have pics on me right now). We have an arch and the ceremony will take place indoors, but there are huge windows with the ocean view.

It will be a Jewish ceremony where we sign the Ketubah and break the glass. I will also walk down the aisle to My Girl played by a guitarist. I'm having 3 bridesmaids and we're all carrying bouquets of yellow roses. The food we're having is standard -- fruit appetizer, salad, roast beef with potatoes and veggies, and the cake. We hired a band so there will be a lot of dancing throughout the night (Frank Sinatra, swing, jazz, some Beatles songs and more contemporary music too). We'll have a handful of toasts as well since that's common in my culture.

After the wedding, we're having a bunch of people come to my parents' house for an after party where there will be more drinks and desserts. Can't wait for the honeymoon either! :-)

What about you Munkos? What's your wedding going to be like?

We wanted a formal ish ceremony and then a more fun party like reception celebration all with a Chicago theme. The ceremony will be in downtown Chicago in a historic hotel built in 1928 as a medinah sports club. So it has lots and lots of architectural detail. Think Camelot. In fact the name of the ballroom is King Arthur's Court. We will be saying our vows before a massive stained glass window which was the inspiration for my jewel tone color scheme. Brief cocktail hour in front of the fountain in the two story lobby area at the ceremony site while we start pictures. Then after a 45 minute drive (all our family and friends are from either the city or burbs so we did parts of the wedding in both plus having the reception in the burbs saved tons of money.) A second cocktail hour at the reception, then 4 course dinner and 4 hours of dancing and party. My big splurge was the ceremony site. I fell head over heels when I saw it, plus we definitely wanted to actually be married in downtown Chicago (where we met). Not spending much on flowers, going primarily with candles plus the reception site includes these gorgeous centerpieces. And thankfully my brother owns a fantastic wedding DJ business so that will be a wedding present to us. So so excited to see this all come together!

Edit - added pics. Pic 1 is the cocktail hour/lobby, #2 is the stained glass window, #3 is the reception hall.

Oh I want to come to all of your weddings, they sound amazing and I love all the pics!!

As for us. Semi-formal at a bed and breakfast in a sleepy little mountain town. Our colours are red, black and silver. We will get married (weather permitting) in the gazebo in their garden, immediately after the bar will set up outside and guests will have cocktails and snacks while we have pics done off sure by some waterfalls and mountain back drops. Dinner is a 4 course silver platter, white glove service (my biggest splurge out side of the venue!) it should be aaaazing! Reception will move inside for dances and guests will be able to come and to in and out as they please, and will even have a hot tub available. We will have about 45 people in total (all RSVP's are in and not one single decline! Yay!)

For us we prioritized the venue - we similarly to MN wanted a weekend get away with our guests. We check in Friday, will all go out for dinner to FH and I'd favorite place, for his birthday. Saturday morning we will all wake up to a gourmet 3 course breakfast served in the dining area. Then the venue provides picnic lunches to each room and our guests can stay and eat or take them down one of the trails into the mountains. Then the wedding and related festivities begin, and Sunday morning we again have breakfast together before we all head home.

We didn't prioritize much as far as decor or cake - it's really not needed with our venue and not where our priorities are so we've spent very little there.

We will have a pizza party for the kids in one of the bigger guest rooms with movies and crafts and activities for them to do when they get tired or bored of the reception.

Depending on weather (September here can be anything from cold and snowing to 90 degrees!) we may have them set up the fire pit and a s'mores station too Smiley smile

Our original theme was vintage garden wedding, but it turned out to be too humid on the day of. Our wedding was a semi-formal intimate event with 42 guests (adult only besides children in the wedding party).

We married in a historic chapel so it didn't need a lot of decoration (thank goodness), but we did have a few flower arrangements and tulle bows on the ends of the aisle. We also had a string duo play as guests arrived and during the ceremony. Our colors were gold/champagne, ivory, blush, and misty blue.

Our reception was held in a private room of an upscale restaurant. This room was located on the second level of the restaurant and allowed for optimal privacy. Our reception was white glove and our guests are still raving about the food (very important to FH). Dinner consisted of a choice of salad, three entree choices: filet, salmon, and chicken, a choice of side, and a choice of dessert (separate from wedding cake). Our baker and florist where allowed to come in early and set up. We also had a 3-piece band which allowed for us to have a first dance and a father/daughter dance.

For me all the little details were important - decor, cake, flowers, dress, hair/make-up. I personally love looking at the photos and seeing all the details and personality displayed. The majority of our budget was spent on a photographer, both venues, DOC, videographer. We opted for cake favors because the guests enjoyed a choice of dessert at the restaurant. We spent roughly $15,000 for 42 guests.
