Dermablend...Reviews?

Tracy, on October 2, 2014 at 7:44 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 13

Has anyone used the product Dermablend to cover up tattoos for their wedding? What were your thoughts on it? Did you cover a large tattoo or small?

Oh I've been wondering the same thing. And if someone has used something besides Dermablend what did you use and did it work? I have some fairly large and dark tattoos that I would like to cover for the wedding.

One of my bridesmaids has a good amount of tattoos that she very generously offered to cover for church. We tried dermablend and kat von d. Honestly, neither have been great, mostly because their dark writing. But Kat Von D has an entire system and we only tried one product so it probably works better that way but is about $100 at Sephora. She is just wearing her hair down and if they're seen they're seen.

I'm just curious why lots of women want to cover their tattoos when they get married, but rock them every other day of their lives? My best friend has a tattoo on the back of her neck and when she got married she covered it with a large flesh-colored bandage which I thought looked odd. I have never been able to get her to explain why she did this. I don't have any tattoos myself.

My tattoos are part of me so they will be out and proud, lol. If mom or other family members want a pic without them they can be edited out. ..The only one that will show is my biggest one which is on my forearm.

I think there is a certain way you need to apply Dermablend to make it work right. It takes a lot of time. However, my friend covered her large tattoo for her moms wedding a few years ago and you could totally see that her skin looked darker/weird in that area in all the pictures.

I have used DERMABLEND for large back tattoos on my back. It is almost like theater makeup because it is very thick. I had a makeup artist apply it. What you need to do is remember the color wheel and which colors neutralize the other colors. If it's a green base then you use a foundation with a red base. Blue base you would use orange. And purple you would use yellow. As long as the actual foundation is your skin color, then you use the correct tones to neutralize the underlying pigment. Also, make sure to set it with a setting powder so it doesn't go sliding off onto clothing and definitely do a trial run so you know it's correctly covered. This may also work with regular foundation but as I said, you may want to try it first.

Here is an article I wrote comparing the different types of makeup to cover tattoos. I hope it helps!

Also I think covering your tattoos is dumb. You got them. If you dislike them, remove them. I have no plans to cover any of my work.

I can't speak for every bride but people ask me the same question every day "why do you want to cover your sleeve on your wedding day, etc" just because my tattoo is a part of my me does not mean it's a part of my life right now. At my wedding. If I have a choice to feel like a sophisticated beauty (not saying tattoos are not) then I'm going to take it. When I got my sleeve done 10 years ago I pictured a very different wedding then I'm actually having so it didn't bother me to have my arm hanging out. But now at 27 years old I have a different envision for my wedding. I'm not hiding my arm the entire wedding but just for the ceremony.. after that I'm all game

A friend asked one of her DH's groomsmen to cover a tattoo on his neck with dermablend (the tattoo was in the process of being removed and it was offensive which was why she asked him to cover it). It ended up looking like a bruise but you could not make out what the tattoo was.

Hey dermablend is a hell of a lot cheaper than tattoo removal so let’s not judge people for wanting to cover up old tattoos they do not wanna feature on such a special day Smiley winking

And tattoo removal is a hell of a lot cheaper than a wedding where you spend too much energy carrying about what other people think of you.
