Hello! My wedding is this Sunday and my period is usually on time, but I guess it switched up these past few months and now I'm supposed to start my period on the day of my wedding!! There are 5 days left!!!! I have cramps, and I'm scared it's going to start! I don't want to ruin our honeymoon!! I've never taken birth control, and I can't start taking it now since my mother in and father in law will be living with us (ps they hate me so much when I've tried to be the perfect "daughter") and I'm 100% sure I'm going to go insane if I take it now. Can someone help give me ideas?? I know cinnamon will make my period come faster, and I've heard of a morning after pill?? Please help! I'm freaking out!!! Thank you.

I'm not trying to sound superior by any means, but I just graduated from pharmacy school and I cannot emphasize enough about not using Plan B. There is no over the counter product that can induce or prevent a menstrual cycle in a safe manner, including herbals or supplements.

Girl I feel you though, I'm due to have mine on the weekend of my wedding too. :/ It stinks but just take care of yourself in the meantime.

Okay, dipping into my old MOD resources when I monitored a forum for pre-teen/teen girls...

    http://www.scarleteen.com/tags/birth_control

Here is a link to a page talking about birth control, the different forms, etc.

Do not rely on just this. Please speak with your doctor. Everyone responds to birth control differently. What works for one person does not always work for another. Speak to your doctor This is important.

(Side note, if period sex is wrong, I don't wanna be right.

    #NoShame)

Okay. So I just have to say this. Period sex is not harmful to the body. It can actually help relieve cramping and period related symptoms (headache, muscle aches, etc.) because of the endorphins released.

ETA: I'm supposed to get mine the Wednesday before my wedding so I'll have it throughout all of the wedding events. But I already have an IUD (Paragard) so I just have to suck it up or hope it delays a bit because of all of the excitement.

There's a disposable insert that almost looks like a diaphragm that you can use and still have sex without the mess. It's way easier to deal with and you don't have to change it as often (every 12 hours). One brand is called flex but I'm sure there are others out there

Please speak to a doctor ASAP after you return from your honeymoon. Your health should be a priority, something that you make time for, not something you push to the side.

For the future, if you're on a pill that makes you crazy, switch pills! I tried my first prescription a few times and by the third week each time I was an emotional mess. Switched pills, NEVER had the problem ever again. Good luck!

I was always told to take aspirin because it's a blood thinner which speeds up the process. Good luck dear!

Having sex while on your period is completely safe. Please talk to your doctor about it. If you choose not to for religious or preference reasons, that's cool. But please educate yourself and then educate others, because I'm assuming whoever taught you it is not healthy/safe also taught others you know, or it's something you've heard repeated in your circle of family/friends. It's not true. There is no health reason for a normal healthy person to not have sex during their period. But like I said don't just take my word (a random internet stranger), talk to your doctor.

I have never had emotional issues on the pill and I've been on it for 10 years.

Also, I don't know of any pill that doesn't protect against pregnancy after the first month, so idk what pp meant about 3 months to kick in.

Lastly, if you plan to be having sex, and don't want to become pregnant right away, you need to have this conversation with your doctor BEFORE having the sex. There's really no excuse to be ignorant about birth control in today's day and age. You have to be proactive about your own body because it affects not only your health, but also your future.

Birth control was the best thing that ever happened to me lol it did not make me super emotional. However, you can't do anything in 5 days to change your cycle.

Have you and your FH discussed your plans for birth control yet or were you just going to wing it on the honeymoon?

You can have sex on your period. It's not any different.

Taking ibuprofen should make your flow lighter.

There's not much else you can at this point

Be careful stressing too much about it. I don't know about you, but stress sometimes delays my periods and makes me feel very sick and bloated. At that point it would be better to have your period. Your period should not ruin your wedding or your honeymoon, you just may need to take extra trips to the bathroom and be intimate in other ways. Everything will be fine and even though it is a very special day, you and your fiancé will have your entire lives together to make memories.
