Delayed Reception

Dorilyn, on August 5, 2019 at 12:09 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 6
I'm mom to the groom. My son is serving overseas. He got married last October in Japan. He and his wife visited her family in Indonesia last February where they had a church ceremony (none of our family were able to attend). They've finally received my daughter-in-law's green card and are coming to the states. We would like to throw a reception for them. Mind you this will be after their official first anniversary. We're planning a DJ, cake, but no garter/bouquet toss. Ideas on invite wording or even how to plan this?

My friends eloped but are doing a wedding celebration half a year after. They just worded their invites saying It's a wedding celebration party!

A cake reception will be lovely! Will you have at a non-meal time like 2 pm so guests won’t assume a meal will be served?

These suggestions are great! As for planning, plan it as you would any wedding reception. It's still a very special occasion!

Awe what a great way to welcome her! Maybe at a firehall or garden. I thinks a brunch would be nice. Maybe keep it small so she does not get overwhelmed.

I would just call it a vow renewal! Or something like a wedding celebration?
