Decorations

I had one decor lady quote be 1,500 and it seemed a little high for what I was asking. My mom insist we hire a decor person but I’m pretty crafty and don’t mind setting up. I need some advice on what I should do.

I would have taken that deal in a heartbeat. I got quoted $9500 for just a backdrop.

    For a backdrop 😳
well she quoted 1,500 for just her. Not the renting of things she needs to get 🤦🏾‍♀️

$9500 for a backdrop is crazy! I think it depends a lot on your area and what you're having them do. We booked a month-of-coordinator for $1200 and in addition to her helping plan and running point on the day of the wedding, she's also setting up and tearing down all our décor that I've made. We also had to rent tables, chairs, linens, etc. so that company is responsible for set up and tear down of the bigger items. If you can DIY some of your décor, I say go for it, but I'd definitely consider looking for a coordinator who can set it all up for you

If you're comfortable DIY-ing your decor, I would definitely say to do it. I also recommend getting day-of-coordinator just to help you set everything up the day of. That just seems like a hefty price for her service when it doesn't even include the rentals. I'm sure you could do it just how you want it if you're crafty! My mom stays at the dollar store looking for stuff to decorate with Smiley xd

I wouldn't hire a decorator if you want to create/set up yourself. There's nothing wrong with DIY decorating Smiley smile

You don’t mind setting up but will you have time? There’s nothing wrong with DiY, I love DIY! But you have a few factors to consider.

When do you get to come in and decorate? Is it the night before or is it the morning of your wedding? Will you have time in the morning in between getting your hair and makeup done? Are you doing a First Look with your photographer? How many tables will you have to decorate? Will you have any help from your bridal party or family?
