Decorations?!

Mckenzie, on May 23, 2020 at 8:28 PM Posted in Style and Décor 1 13

Umm... help! I realized within my planning with everything else and being proud of getting most of my vendors aligned, I have not even started with getting decorations for my wedding and don’t even know where to start!!! Especially with everything going on and where to shop, luckily there is online. But what/where did you start with in regards to decorations for your day?? Advice is much appreciated!

**Adding on to this, what I mean by this is what did you guys start with when it came to buying the decorations (If you did your own decor). Did you start with the candles, or lights, or pictures? Hope that clears it up a bit! Smiley smile**

Decide the look you want. Browse Pinterest for ideas of colors, centerpieces, etc.

What is your season/colors you've decided already? Then decide if you want formal, casual, etc and go from there. Is it daytime/evening?
You can shop at Amazon. Try to buy local (glass is heavy and expensive to ship) and rent from your florist as much as you can. Joann has sales all the time plus coupon codes.

    Yea!

I know what look we want! Our colors are neutral colors and kind of going for a classy vintage/rustic look! Wedding is in the summer!

See how much you can rent from your florist to cut down on buying things yourself

We've decided that we are actually going to do our own flowers! Mom is really good at it so we are lucky enough to have a...naturally born florist in the family? lol! But I guess I'm more wondering like what did everyone start with when buy decorations!

Ohhh! That is very pretty! When it came to the decorations, what did you start with first? Like the vases, candles, etc.?

I bought candles first because they were easiest. I found centerpiece ideas on Pinterest and made those. Then my aisle markers. Then I picked out tablecloths and extra little details.

I knew what I wanted so I bought them all at the same time and then worked with my florist for the greenery look I wanted. You can probably find the log blocks on Facebook marketplace and maybe even the vases. I ended up selling all of mine for half of what I paid for them.

My centerpieces and decor had a similar vibe to what you're going for.

I found a lot of my decor on sale at Michael's and Marshalls. Not everything matched, but I didn't mind. We were going for a vintage look.

Some of the gold terrariums were different shapes, some vases had different bottoms. I picked up a bunch of baby's breath two days before the wedding and the venue put them in the vases for us day of. I bought a crap ton of twinkle lights off amazon and put them in the terrariums.

We were happy with how everything turned out. I'm not a huge fan of DIY as it can be stressful for me, but it wasn't too much work! We saved a lot of money buying decor on sale and DIYing what we could. I also got a good amount of decor that isn't pictured here off of Facebook marketplace.

I’m starting with table cloths and floral and going from there! I’m a fan of going shopping without anything in mind, and seeing if something speaks to you! Then go from there!
