I have a problem I wanted to have a tropical theme wedding and bought some tropical decorations. However my future mother in law pointed out that the venue we are having the wedding at is very rustic and she thinks it's going to look off if we do a tropical wedding. I had my heart set on tropical and bought some really cool decorations that I'm excited to use. I thought that maybe if I really go to town with decorating the place tropical that maybe it wouldn't look odd. What do you guys think, should I just go ahead and do the tropical or should I just go with rustic since the venue is rustic? Do you think it would look odd to do tropical?

Loooove the PPs suggestions of larger decor items to detract or backdrops! Although you should do what you enjoy, it's true that taxidermy is a suuuuper different vibe from tropical, which comes across more "ski lodge". See what the venue rules are for hanging decor--they might allow Command Strips or not, they may allow you to hang something over their existing decor or maybe not... It's best to know so you can start coming up with solutions! Maybe you can put little outfits on the taxidermy and force them to be tropical. 😂

That's a good idea. I'm definitely going to have to ask them what I am allowed to do.

You.do.you.girlfriend! Go tropical! Our theme is vintage. We wanted a venue that was brick, hardwood floors, and industrialish but we live if the heart of Tennessee, so all that surrounds us is barn/rustic. We were able to book an 1840s home that has outdoor partial barn pavillions....it took some convincing my fiance that we could pull this vintage theme off and I'm really hoping that we can! So if you want tropical, do it! Should you change your mind, make a photo booth section with all your tropical decor!
