decorating the ceiling!

Panda Bride, on August 4, 2010 at 4:01 PM Posted in Planning 0 6

Y'all must think I'm crazy by some of the things I post lol, but my mind has a billion different ideas that I want to do! So, my newest idea is how to decorate the ceiling at our reception. the ceiling is all exposed beams, pipes, etc, so I want to cover it. the renter said we could do whatever we want. I want to hang 5 large pieces of white tulle starting at the center of the room, going outward, with teal and blue lanterns hanging in between. Small lanterns towards the middle, medium in the middle, and large ones towards the outside of the room. first pic is our venue, 2nd pic is my oh so crappy paint version of my idea, and 3rd pic is kind of my inspiration. thoughts? ideas? opinions?

Hmmmm...your venue appears to have very low cielings. That last photo, they are much higher. I think if you do draping, it might end up looking like the cieling is closing in on you. I would add the lanterns and forego the draping, or hang cafe lights, instead of the fabric.

Would it look weird if the fabric was pulled closer to the ceiling, and not draping down?

I don't think it would give you the effect you want. I would totally do cafe lights though, with the lanterns.
