I could use some decor advice! Our wedding style is glamorous, metallic, and elegant. It'll be in a hotel with a similar look. The hotel itself has a lot of gold, grey, glass, mirrors, mirrored furniture in the lobby and hallways. The room and halls are a pretty neutral white, gold and grey palette.
So far, for decor, the main thing we've chosen is the centerpieces: they'll be gold candlelabras with tea lights and strands of crystal beads hanging off them. There will also be florals incorporated but exactly how is still TBD.
I have a few decisions I need to make and a lot of it seems to revolve around the signs and frames.
1. Can I mix mirrors and acrylic? We are debating between a mirrored or an acrylic welcome sign. We are planning to do mirrored rounds under the candles at cocktail tables and we have mirrored chargers just at the head table. We have an acrylic card box because that's what someone gave us and I was considering a metallic cake stand. I think they both fall under the glamorous, elegant, hotel wedding look but one is going to be a bit more vintage and one is more modern. We were thinking about doing the acrylic sign since it's easier to DIY (thanks to posters here for the advice!) but it's a more modern look and I'm not sure it'll go with the candlelabras. Which leads me to my next question...
2. Can I mix old world and modern? I feel like the hotel kind of does in that it blends an old world glamour and gold hardware with modern clean lines and shades of black, grey and white. Acrylic would be more of the clean lines. Mirrors more old world. I also have a number of white and gold frames I was thinking about using and they're a mix of the two styles but all tied together by the color palette and glamorous, elegant look. Is our theme enough to make it ok to mix these looks or should I choose one and stick with it?
I know I can do whatever I want but I want it to look good and we can't afford a stylist! Thanks!
