Declines with regret...

I feel like such a brat this morning! We've been getting RSVPs back since last week and this morning when I stopped by the post office I had my first declines, two of them! Lol I know people have a ton of other things going on and our wedding is close to a holiday so I totally understand and don't...

I feel like such a brat this morning! We've been getting RSVPs back since last week and this morning when I stopped by the post office I had my first declines, two of them! Lol I know people have a ton of other things going on and our wedding is close to a holiday so I totally understand and don't think these people should revolve around my wedding, I just wasn't prepared for the twinge of disappointment I was going to get with some of the deiclines I knew would come! Has anyone else experienced this or am I just nuts!?

I have a good feeling that the majority of our slackers (1.5 weeks late on sending back) are going to decline. Some rejections had me bummed, but there are others that I had to invite to avoid hard feelings who declined, YES!! I agree with Paris. The venue is going to charge us $13.00 ea. for every additional person over 100.

Oh NOOOOO bee! Whhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaat? Why? Lame. I have only gotten 1 decline so far, and a note was included stating the reason. :-) That made me feel better.

I do agree that a decline does save you money...lol. But I also get the feeling you are having. I have had some declines that I just wasn't expecting. Some of those people sent us a card already with a gift/money, which was a very nice gesture because it really made me feel like they just couldn't make it to the wedding because they had some other prior commitment or something instead of me thinking that they just didn't want to come.

I will say one RSVP hurt because I sent out the invites and their RSVP came back in like one day and it was very firmly checked NO. They didn't put their names on it or a return address, or even a little note saying why they couldn't make it (and this was someone that told me to make sure they got an invite...). And of course my mind thinks the worst like they opened it and immediately (And hatefully) marked no without any thought to it.

I totally understand. I had it too. We expected (even hoped) that some people wouldn't be able to attend, but we learned very quickly that sometimes the declines you want, are not the declines you get! Smiley sad

As I see it, if you're not a tiny bit disappointed that someone can't make it, then that guest probably shouldn't have been invited to begin with. It's totally normally to feel the way you do!

You're not nuts, and I can understand having some hurt feelings. It's very normal. At least they were polite enough to RSVP and you didn't have to call.
