Dealing with someone you can't STAND who is coming to your wedding...

I do not get along with FH's godmother (she is not family, she is one of his mom's good friends.) I do not get along with FH's godmother (she is not family, she is one of his mom's good friends.) To make a long story short, after we had been dating for about a year she did some not so nice things (towards me) and so my FH basically told her I did not feel like having a relationship with her. Not once did she attempt to apologize or anything (FH and her are pretty close so I figured that she would have enough decency to at least apologize for his sake, but nope!) So now, for the past couple years its just been completely awkward..she won't even say HI to me at a family event, or if FH is sitting next to me she refuses to talk to him if I'm right there! Now they have kind of started to grow apart and he doesn't see her as much, which I think is because he knows what she did was wrong. Of course she is invited to the wedding but I cannot stop thinking about WHAT to do when I see her there!! As I said, this woman won't even say hi to me... how would you handle this situation??

Why is she invited..? I am a firm believer in, if you don't want them there, don't invite them. I would hate to feel like I was "obligated" to invite anybody.

I would just smile and thank her for coming, that is if she even shows. We are anticipating a guest that said 'Yeah, we'll see how long this will last.' When FH changed his FB status when we first announced we were dating (we had already been together for three months). For a while she wouldn't acknowledge me even when I tried to talk to her and I have zero idea shy. FH said it's just the way she is but It has always just sat wrong with me. She finally talked to me about six months ago when FH and I attended her sons baby shower and gave an expensive gift. But I still think she is a c***.

Sweetheart...this is your big day! all about you and the love of your life. you want to be surrounded with NOTHING but well wishes. Why play fake on your day, why spend money on someone to possibly come and ruin your day? I say... save the invitation for someone whom you care about, and really cares about the two of you. That would be honored to be part of your day.

I invited several people to keep the peace. His sister never speaks to me, no HI, bye, Fuck you nothing. We invited her and she chose not to come to anything, not even to see her daughter as a JBM. Kid was very hurt by this, but knows thats how her mom is. In reality invite them, if they come kill them with kindness and be the better person.

Yes,FH step father. He made a,sexual advance towards me about 3years ago, I haven't seen him since then.FH and his mom didn't speak for almost a year because of it but,I encouraged him to "let it go" (with her) because, life is short. She and her husband are Velcro and if I say he's not invited FMIL won't come and I know that would break FH heart. So, I'm left being the bigger person which absolutely sucks!

If there is no relationship, why invite her? That will really send a message! But since she is invited...kill her with kindness!!!

I would say don't invite her. At the end of it all, it's you and your FH's day and if he's not even close with her anymore then why even bother stressing yourself about it?

I mean, she's already made it clear she doesn't like you. Not as if you'd be burning a bridge.

I have not had the best relationship with my soon to be sister in law. She has lately been wanting to help which is great, but also extra stress for me. I've had her help with things that I want to have, but would be ok not having. Blue flower, red thorns..... Hope this helps! oh and being nice takes far less energy than being upset

One of my FH'S friends called me a "peice of ass" when we started dating... we had gotten past it until he heard we were getting married (after two and a half years of dating) and he stated to a mutual friend that he thought we were getting married because I'm pregnant. (I'm not). He was on the invite list, I wasn't happy about it but was willing to deal with it and kill him with kindness but Fh removed him.

My advice don't let the unwelcome guest ruin your day. Focus on the people who love and support you.

I would ignore her. Honestly you'll be so busy it won't be that hard. If she comes up to you, "thanks so much for coming! excuse me..." and walk away. You probably will actually have to step away anyway.

Be polite, but there'll be so many people there to talk to that you just need to say "Hello, thanks for coming. Have fun." Then just walk away! You'll barely even realize she's there on your special day.

I don't understand. If they don't talk to you at family events, they don't get an invite to your wedding. If this is a family wedding, avoid the person, respect the distance.
