DC Wedding on a Budget!

Kim, on September 9, 2010 at 12:04 PM Posted in Planning 0 20

Looking for suggestions on venues in the DC metro area that are reasonably priced. We will be having about 125 people and I'd like to keep the cost per person (including food and bar) at $125 or below, yet still have a nice place. I also do not want to pay to rent a place so my search has been narrowed to hotels and country clubs. Seems impossible to find anything under $150. Help!

There are a TON of things under $150pp in the area! I would say that's probably on the higher end of the scale. Did you looks at the vendors section of WW?

Have you considered a boat? Both Spirit of Washington and Odyssey have all-inclusive wedding packages that I suspect are well within your budget.

Thanks for the feedback! I have looked at the WW venue list but I feel like there are a lot of rental places like manors - which I don't want to spend money on. I wish WW had a way to do a more advanced search.

I haven't consider the Spirit or Odyssey because I don't do well on boats Smiley smile

Can you do the private room of a restaurant? Carmine's (in Penn Quarter) is new and has a lot of private spaces. We're using the party room at Whitlow's on Wilson (it's very affordable and our wedding isn't too schmancy).

Also try: the Clyde's in Penn Quarter, Tuscana West, Darlington House.

That's more than enough for a venue in this area. Are you restricted to the district or are you open to MD and VA? From what I've seen of the pictures, all the Martin's Caterers locations are very nice ballrooms and they include a lot. Justine booked there and got a really good deal.

What kind of wedding do you want? Are you the ballroom type or the historic home type? There are so many options in this area.

I am open to VA and MD. I grew up and currently live in VA. I want a church (catholic) ceremony and ballroom reception.

I'd ideally like an all inclusive package at the reception venue - and I'd like it UNDER $125.

    Thanks!

Kim - Do you have access to Officer's Clubs? My boss had her wedding at Ft. Myer, they have packages, and it was nice.

If you're looking for an all inclusive ballroom then I'd definitely look into Martin's Caterers, Crosswinds and Continental Events Center. I don't know Continental's packages but they say they're a one stop shop.

Do you have a "home" church or cathedral? I'm bored at work and in a Googlin' mood :-)

Have you tried the West Belmont Place at the National Conference Center in Leesburg, VA? Their site is beautiful and their highest wedding package is $125/person. The lowest is $105. I

I also agree that Uptown and Martin's Crosswinds have beautiful locations as well.

I attend Evangel Cathedral in Upper Marlboro, MD. The building is amazing and the sanctuary is awesome. You can also have your reception in the Grand Foyer (it's huge!) Check them out at www.evangelcathedral.net. They also have a Martin's Crosswinds (Camelot) on-site. And they are building a Bishop's Chapel which will be used for weddings and such. Not sure of their prices for the Bishop's Chapel since it's not quite finished. You can call the church at 301-249-9400 and ask for Minister Jacqueline Hatcher for info.

If you need anything further, send me an email: *****************@*****.*** or check out my website at www.reflectivewedding.com

    Good luck.

I'm a local wedding planner and have worked with a lot of brides on a tight budget and have found that if you use new vendors trying to break into the industry (i.e. photographers looking to build their portfolios) you can save a ton of money.
