DB Alterations Scam

Mrs. Ramos, on February 16, 2014 at 6:45 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 12

Recently i posted my 2nd fitting with pics. I was aware of the scamming that goes on during bridal alterations where they take in too much then let out a lot just to keep charging. I'm convinced David's Bridal will scam you. I purchased my dress in a size 6 as I'm more of a 5. The initial dress I tried on was a 4 but was tight on the top part. When my dress came in the top was fitting well but they said the dress need to be brought in just a tad. My 2nd fitting revealed they made my dress top smaller than the original I tried on which was a 4. I explained this to them yesterday and asked that my dress be let out and got nothing but attitude. The seamstress went as far as saying, "The same 1 1/2 inch we took in now we gotta take out". Ugh duh! No one said to take in so much. On top of that they charged me an extra $65 to let out when it was clearly their fault. So over them. My wedding in in less than a month and these fouls ain't get it together yet. Stressed!

Call their customer service line. Seriously, they're really helpful, and if you tell them what's going on, they WILL contact the store and get things straightened out for you. Raise heck and you'll likely get somewhere, and get the $65 dropped too. There was one lady who even got most of her alterations covered as well, due to the inconvenience and having to go through so much crap.

After the experience i had with them adding shit on to my dress purchase that i didnt even ask for, i am not doing alterations with them. I'll go to the mom&pop shop for it.

That sucks. They were very nice and helpful to me. Keep in mind each store is different - you just had a bad store, it seems.

Thanks ladies. I'll call Tom and see what the corporate office says. It makes no sense that a dress purchase bigger is smaller than the initial one tried. Hopefully they can see this issue and reason with the store.

They actually tried to get my a size larger too! I know my measurements asked to see the sizing chart for my dress. Now all I have to pay for is a bustle and a hem. I'm no sure if I should go to DB or another seamstress?

You definitely need to contact corporate, they will help you. i've heard of them giving brides a couple hundred dollars of david's bridal gift cards (that can be used on alterations, invitations/thank you's, etc) especially if the bride is nice or emotional enough. also, stay in touch with your stores manager and let her know you've also contacted corporate, but would rather hopefully settle the issue in store. she will want to resolve the issue before her managers and district managers find out. good luck Smiley sad after working there, i would never recommend anyone get alterations there.
