Days off

Merline, on October 28, 2019 at 9:41 AM Posted in Planning 0 16
I've been saving my days off and my supervisor is asking that I put in my leave request by the end of the week. FH and I booked our week long honeymoon this past weekend (super excited). We are driving out the next day to Gatlinburg. I was curious how many days did everyone take off?. I was thinking of taking off February 27th - March 13th. Our honeymoon will be March 1st - March 7th. Then we will move into our place together that weekend. I also though about taking February 27th - March 10th off, but who really wants to go back to work on a Wednesday. Thought?

I think it all kind of depends how much time you want to use. Definitely nothing wrong with taking some extra time off! But I also think the benefit of going back on that Wednesday is you don't have to deal with a full week after having all that time off.

I'm getting married November 2. Our honeymoon is November 3-12 (a couple of those days are travel). I'm taking off 2 days before the wedding (starting October 31) and going back to work on November 14 (taking a day after the honeymoon before going back). It works out to 2 full weeks, and the nice part is having only 3 days this week, and just 2 days at work the week I come back.

We're having a Sunday wedding so as of right now I plan on taking off the Friday before and the entire week after. So my last day at work will be February 20, taking off February 21-March 1, going back to work on March 2. I'm considering taking off March 2 to take care of all the name change things, but I haven't decided yet!

That all depends on who you work for. I work three 12 hours days a week, so I can switch and make my time off longer without having to use as many PTO days. I am taking just over two weeks off. Not because I really need to, but because I want to. Approval for my time off was based on what my union contract and employee handbook says about time off. I also accrue time throughout the year, so I will still be able to take off later in the year if I need/want to.

Nothing wrong with taking some time off. I'm building up my vacation time to use for my wedding. Right now I'm planning on taking the Wednesday before the wedding September 9th-14th off. The only thing I might change is, I might start my vacation on the 8th instead; since the weekend before my wedding is Labor Day weekend and my office is closed on Monday the 7th so I'm debating do I really want to come in for 1 day lol. Part of me kind of does just to keep myself busy and that day always seems to be busy for my office. We are taking our honeymoon later in October of 2020 and just doing a 4 day weekend at a resort town.

I feel like it's really up to you how you want to spend your time off and how long. A wedding is a stressful process that takes a lot out of a person. Most people end up saving time off rather than taking time for themselves during this process. The Honeymoon or at least any time off after a wedding is time to unwind and chill, have fun and spend it with your new Husband/Wife.

I took 11 days/88 hours off from my job. I got married on Saturday October 5th and I flew out to Orlando on Monday the 7th and returned late on Friday the 18th. We went to a hockey game on Saturday the 19th and then Sunday/Monday we took time to relax... and spend time with our friend that had come in from Sweden and was leaving on Tuesday the 22nd (they came with us on our HM, too).

I honestly wanted to take off Oct 3/4 (the two days before my wedding or even just the 4th would have helped). However, I didn't get time to do that as I had already used a lot of time for various things throughout the year - my father almost passed away feb/march, totalled my car in april & broke my hand, got a dog and the dog almost passed away the week we got it, and Husband's Grandfather passed away 2 weeks before our wedding and I took time off to cope with it.

If you want to cut time short, go ahead -- I returned on a Tuesday. I don't think a Wednesday will hurt, but if you think it'll be nice to take the extra 3 days, do it. Smiley smile

I'm getting married on Leap Day too! Right now, I'm planning on taking off February 27-March 9th (the day we get back from our honeymoon). Our company gives us 22 vacation days each year, but I don't want to use everything the beginning of the year because I like to take 2-3 weeks off around the holidays. I may take off March 10th as well, though, since our flight back doesn't get in until 10:54pm.

I went back to work on a Thursday after my honeymoon and it was actually great. We arrived home Tuesday night, took wednesday to relax and settle back in, and then went back to work Thursday. I actually much preferred that to going back Monday... going back to only a 2-day week really was a nice way to ease back into reality.

I would honestly take off as much time as you can! You only get to live this special moment once in your life. So why not make it as long as possible? When my time comes I plan to take off March 22nd-April 11th. I want the week of my wedding off, so I’m not stressed about any last minute things that need to be done. And we want our honeymoon to be about 2 weeks with a few days off when we get back! Good luck to you! You’re so close 😍✨💕

Since I just started my job in May, by the time we have our wedding I will only have a weeks pay worth of vacation time. I am thinking that I will probably just take the full week off after the wedding, but it’s so far out that I am undecided lol.

I took off a week and a half. I needed a full weekday to run around doing errands once we returned.

FH and I are both teachers so we planned an (early) summer wedding. We will finish school June 11 and we get married June 27. We will then take a week long honeymoon and we don't return to work until the last week of August. We figured that way we would have some time for last minute prep once school ended and have time for our honeymoon.

Two days sounds better than 3! I'll probably do the same. Thanks!

That's what I was thinking because I work 9 to 5 and that's when everywhere is open to get those documents changed. I think I'll take Monday- Wednesday off after the honeymoon.
