Megan, on January 1, 2009 at 8:53 AM Posted in Planning 0 2

I just wanted to know the pros and cons of a day wedding versus a night wedding. Thanks!

I always thought I'd have a night wedding...but due to costs and travel for the guests, we are having a day wedding. The nice thing for the guests is that they don't need to stay overnight since the wedding is over at 4:30. That also leaves us time to have a party at a rental cottage that night - which will be more casual and extend the event. Another pro is that we're having the ceremony and reception on the water...so people will be able to enjoy the views the whole time.

A con of having a day wedding is that I'll have to be up and ready bright and early!

Through the years we have found that day weddings tend to be more relaxed and laid back since the sun is shining - and since it's daytime fewer people drink - and those that do drink - drink less.

evening weddings tend to be more formal and since its night time there seems to be a mindset that more people are ready to party (and drink!).

it is true that saturday day weddings can sometimes save you money over saturday evening weddings (but you can also save money by having a friday evening event is a night is really what you want.
