Day of Timeline

Jennifer, on May 5, 2020 at 11:19 AM Posted in Planning 0 4

I am struggling so hard with creating a day of wedding timeline- mostly in relation to photos!

For reference, I have never been in a wedding so I have no clue how things actually go as far as timing for getting all of the needed photos. We will only have one photographer (includes 6 hours, but I have extended this to include more time and can add on an hour at a time if needed) and one videographer (videographer is unlimited amount of time day of); no assistants or second photographers.

Our wedding party consists of 1 MOH, 2 bridesmaids, 1 best man, 2 groomsmen. No flower girls or ring bearers.

We are having a 5:00pm ceremony, but our reception (and bridal suite to get ready) will be a 40 minute drive from the ceremony location. We are also doing a first look and wedding party photos before the ceremony. There isn't a back way into our ceremony venue, so we are planning on arriving there by 4:00pm to be extra cautious for me to not be seen by the guests.

I was originally having our photographer arrive at noon, but after trying to create a timeline, I don't think that will be early enough.

As a rough draft, I was planning on doing our first look around 1:30pm followed by some photos of just FH and me, then driving to various locations (we will be in the downtown area of the city) from about 2-3:15pm. Then we would drive to our ceremony site. We will have a party bus for our wedding party to ride in.

Will our photographer arriving at noon allow for enough time for her to get photos of me and the bridesmaids and the groom and groomsmen before the first look or would that be too rushed? I was planning on stepping into my dress at 12:45-ish.

I would talk to your photographer and ask how much time she needs for taking getting ready photos, the first look, the group shot photos and whatever else you want taken before you get to the venue And go from there. I would say 12-4 is plenty of time to get everything taken and include transportation between spots. But I would extend her time to 8 hours if your ceremony isn’t until 5.

Thank you Smiley smile We have extended her to 8 hours so far. I will send off an email to her to check how long she needs.

I would designate more time for photos. on my wedding day i had the EXACT same schedule in mind as you. i had a 5p ceremony time and we did first look and photos starting at around 1:30-2p but we had to set up our ceremony ourselves so we had to leave by 3p to set up our ceremony. so in hindsight i should have allotted more time for photos than i did. especially because the wedding day just goes SO FAST that you already think where did the time go?

Thank you for your input 🙂 I definitely don't want to miss out on getting all of the photos that we need/want.
