Day of Timeline

Madalyn, on July 7, 2019 at 10:20 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 4
Hey y’all.. I only have my photographer for a limited time and she will not be at the entire reception. How did you all go about that, or how are you planning to go about your timeline? I want her to be present for the entrance (obviously), the parent dances, first dance, garter/bouquet toss, and the cake cutting. I’ve seen how some brides even stage their exit before the photographer leaves. But, if you all had an actual guideline of what you did, that’d be even more helpful. They say the pictures are the most important thing, so I want to be sure to capture the more meaningful parts of the night without rushing through!

You can do everything that you want to be photographed right after the entrance, first dance, parents dance, toasts & cake cutting. I would skip fake exit because that just sounds, well, fake lol. But you can always ask a trusted friend who takes good photos, to capture just this exit moment.

Hey Madalyn! How long exactly do you have your photographer for? Will she be present for the entire ceremony? You should definitely make a list of important moments that you want to be captured and some specific photos from each moment if you can think of them. This will seriously help your photographer get exactly what you want. Once you have your moments written down, you will then be able to plan your timeline based on how many hours you have your photographer for during your reception. You should constantly keep your photographer in the loop for what you are thinking will work because she may have some suggestions as to how to use her time with you most efficiently. Remember that she is a professional and knows what she is talking about!

We've timed to where we have our photographer up until the last 30 minutes of the wedding which I was okay with since we weren't planning on a grand exit.

Maybe narrow your timeline down a little if you can, or ask a trusted friend to take your exit photos.

Our photographer is AMAZING and really worked with us on our timeline/budget! She organized things so that she arrives around the last 30 minutes of the girls getting ready (that way we don't have to pay for the full 2 hour process). This allows for getting ready pics, plus we can fake a few of the girl doing my hair and makeup so I still have those. I would suggest asking your photographer to help you come up with something that works for you. They usually know best since they've been to so many weddings and gone through so many different timelines.

Also, my friend had their "grand exit" a little early so that the photographer could capture it. Then, they went back to the reception to mingle a little more with guests they weren't able to get to beforehand.

    Hope that helps!
