Day of Timeline

CourtneyBrittain, on May 28, 2019 at 12:31 AM Posted in Planning 0 4
FH and I are starting to put together our Day Of timeline. What all needs to be included? When is the first dance/mother and son/father and daughter dance? When do we do the bouquet/garter toss? When’s the shoe game supposed to be played?

We are thinking ceremony at 5:30, the photographers will come around 3 for getting ready photos and then first look/wedding party/family. After the ceremony (about 30 mins) we will do some more photos of just the two of us while everyone heads to the reception (same spot, different building). We think we will plan on food around 6:30, when do we fit everything else in?
We will leave by 10/10:30

A lot of your timeline is a personal preference thing to be honest. I've seen everything done a ton of different ways. From what I understand it's usually:

    Wedding party Entrances

    Toasts

    First course/Parent Dances (optional)

    Second course/parent dances (optional)

    Bride and Groom first dance

45 min-1 hour Open dance floor

    Cutting the cake

30 min - 45 min open dance floor

    Garter and Bridal tosses

    Last dances

    Grand exit (optional)

Note: you can also do all of the dances after the wedding party entrances. I've also seen them done around the same time as the first dance. It's up to you. Cutting the cake can be moved up to the beginning as well. The garter and bridal tosses are almost always towards the end of the night.

Ask your photographer and DJ for advice as to what they think works best too!

Thank you, I appreciate it! We aren’t having different courses or a DJ but I didn’t even think to ask my photographer! Thanks!
