Day Of Timeline for 2pm Ceremony?

Victoria, on September 3, 2019 at 12:06 PM Posted in Planning 2 9
I'm at a loss. I have no idea how I'm going to arrange the day, but we need to start early since my girls and I are going to be doing our own hair and makeup. I know for a fact that I want to do the dances before dinner, but that's it.

This is my schedule for 3:00 ceremony (haven't decided on it just yet) if you wanted to use it as a guideline with everything shifted an hour earlier!

9:00 Arrive at venue to begin setup
11:00 Brief lunch break/begin getting ready
1:15 Pre-wedding photos (bride w/ her family, groom w/ his family, bride & bridesmaid, groom & groomsmen)
2:15 Finish photos to return to bride/groom suite (snack, relax, shake the nerves lol)
2:40 Early bird guests start to arrive
    3:00 Invite time
3:10 Ceremony Begins (to accommodate late comers if necessary)
3:35 Ceremony Ends/Guests move to reception area
    3:40 Cocktail Hour/Post Ceremony Photos
    4:40 Introduction of Bride & Groom/First Dance
4:50 Welcome (Father of the Bride)
    4:55 Prayer/Blessing from Groom's Grandfather
    5:00 Dinner begins (buffet style)
    5:30 Toasts
    5:45 Father/Daughter & Mother/Son Dances
    6:00 Dancing
    6:40 Cake cutting
    7:05 Bouquet/Garter Toss
    7:10 Sunset Photos
    7:30 Last Dance
    7:45 Send Off

We're having a small Sunday wedding, which is why not much time was put in place specifically for dancing. Hope this helps!

It all depends on where your venues are and what you'd prefer.

    A traditional timeline:

    Hair

    Brunch/Lunch

    Makeup

Leave for ceremony (this depends on how long it'll take you to get to your ceremony venue)

    2pm Ceremony

    Ceremony ends

    Wedding Party Pictures

Cocktail Hour (mingle with guests as i'm assuming your cocktail hour won't begin until 5pm or later so you'll have plenty of time to take pictures and attend your cocktail hour)

    Introductions

    First Dance

    Toasts

    Dinner

    Father/Daughter Dance and Mother/Son Dance

    Cut the cake

    Open Dance Floor

    Bouquet and garter toss (optional)

    Reception ends

Do you have a planner or DOC? If so, they will make a timeline for you. Your photographer (and videographer if you chose to have one) will also develop a time line for you of when they will arrive and what time they will need you ready by.

No, I am planning all of it myself. My photographer told me to create a rough draft day of timeline that we can go over and work with when we meet at the end of the month.

Oh okay. Our photographer came up with one and sent it to us for approval. Same with videographer. My wedding is at 5:30 p.m.

    9:30am - HMUA arrives

3:00pm - Photographers and videographers arrive to start detail photos/videos

    3:45pm - first look, pre-wedding photos

4:45pm - Relax before ceremony starts

    5:30pm- ceremony

    6:00pm - cocktail hour begins

    7:00pm - 7:10pm - Wedding party intros, special dances

    7:10pm - dinner

8:00pm - cake cutting, anniversary dance

    8:10pm - party

This is our timeline. The reception times are all subject to change based on how the night goes.

Here's out 2pm timeline as created by our DOC, HMUA, and Photographer. Our venue only lets us on the property 2 hours before the ceremony starts - just a caveat.

    6:30 HMUA starts

    11:30 Head to venue

    12:00pm Wedding party arrival

    1:00pm First look

    1:30pm Guest arrival

    2:00pm Ceremony

    2:30pm Cocktail hour

    3:30pm Introductions

    3:35pm Buffet opens

    4:10pm Toasts

    4:25pm First dance

    4:30pm Additional dances

    4:35pm General dancing

    5:00pm Cake cutting

    7:00pm Conclusion

    7:30pm Guest exit

    8:00pm Vendor exit
