Day of Timeline Examples?

Chantal, on March 13, 2020 at 12:28 PM Posted in Planning 2 10

I was wondering if there were any brides on here who weren't doing a first look and had their day of timeline worked out, and if so, if I could see it as a reference? I can't find any good examples on the internet, everywhere I just see "DO A FIRST LOOK, IT'S SO MUCH BETTER" which isn't going to happen (VERY important to FH that our first look is when I'm walking down the aisle). I've pretty much finished a draft of mine but I have no idea if it's actually doable.

Thank you in advance, lovely brides!

Here's mine! Rough draft, and all things may not apply to you (we have 2 separate venues) but here it is: (rehearsal day before)

11 A.M. - Set up reception venue with décor, etc.
    12 - 3 P.M. - Get ready! Check that ceremony site is set-up correctly.
3 - 4 P.M. - Stay in bridal room for touch ups, put on dress/bridal & wedding party portraits, etc.
4 - 4:30 P.M. - Groom, groomsmen, and guests arrive for ceremony. Groomsmen take their pics
    5 P.M. - Ceremony
    5:30 - 6 P.M. - Guests depart to reception venue.
    5:30 - 6 P.M. - B&G Portraits, family pics, cocktail hour, etc.
6:30 P.M. - Head to reception venue with bridal party
7 P.M. - First dance, and welcome speech
    7:10 P.M. - Dinner
    7:30 P.M. - Mother & son dance, father & daughter dance
    8:00 P.M. - cake cutting
    8 - 11 P.M. - party
    11 P.M. - Start cleaning up

9:30-11:40: bride and bridesmaids get ready (yes, we effectively got ready in 2 hours!)
11:00-11:30: groom and groomsmen get ready
11:30-11:40: groom and groomsmen photos11:40-12:00: bride and bridesmaids photos12:00-12:30: ceremony 12:30-1:30: cocktail hour, meanwhile:12:30-12:45: family photos12:40-1:00: bridal party photos1:00-1:15: couples photos1:15-1:30: bride and groom join cocktail hour1:30-5: reception

Of course these times weren’t exact, just estimates (I wasn’t looking at the clock all day either so I’m just guessing how long the photos took). Also about once an hour during the reception our photographer pulled us outside for about 10 mins of photos so we ended up getting another 30 mins of couples photo time scattered throughout the reception.

We have a lot in common! Our reception is about 20-30 minutes away from our ceremony, and we are starting at 4pm for ceremony. Thank you so much for sharing, this is super helpful!

I was advised to do 30 minutes for each individual wedding party and then another 30 for each set of family photos... I've allotted for it in my draft, but something tells me we are just going to be SUPER ahead of schedule (which is fine by me!) Your timeline is really encouraging; it looks like you guys didn't need a million hours to do all the photos (which is the most stressful thing for me at the moment). Thanks for sharing! Smiley smile

Nope not at all! I would listen to your photographer though. Ours told us with confidence she could finish family photos in 20 mins max and bridal party photos in 15 mins max so we knew we’d be able to accomplish it Smiley smile

The “nope not at all” was in reference to “we didn’t need a million hours to do all the photos” lol I realized that was super vague 😂
