Day of Program

Jennifer, on May 30, 2019 at 1:00 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 20
We're doing a rustic backyard ceremony and reception but think it's a waste of money to buy paper programs when people usually just leave them under their seat once the ceremony is over. We thought of doing something with wood but a huge pallet seems time consuming. Any quick inexpensive ways to do a program? We're only having 30 people at our wedding so it doesn't need to be anything crazy. Thanks!

If you don't want to paint a pallet you could do a chalkboard. That way it can be visible and inexpensive and reusable. I'm in the same boat not wanting to do paper programs but I'm having close to 180 people.

Do you need a program? I'm not making one. That would save you time and money lol.

We didn't have programs - not least because it was one less thing I had to deal with lol

Well I'd still like something so people know what's planned and aren't confused on what to do... I like the chalkboard idea but nothing else is chalkboard related with our wedding so I think it would look weird when we're going with more wood decor

What if you have a large empty wooden picture frame? You could use markers to write on the glass

You could just do one big program on a pallet or chalkboard? Or do one per aisle or one per every few seats?

Do a wedding website and do it there, people need to know what time to arrive and what time the reception will begin, you can list those things on the invitation. Ceremony will begin prompty at x with reception to follow and then they know all that they need to know

We are having a relatively small ceremony/reception as well (60 people) and we only have the venue for a specific amount of time. It will end at either 7 or 8pm and not go on late like some receptions do... that being said - I opted to print wedding programs so that we can manage our guests expectations from the beginning. Which kind of sounds like what you want to do. We are buying a template from Etsy and then I'll just have them printed locally. With only having 30 guests, it shouldn't cost much to have small ones printed.

Yes, I've seen this done. Even find an old frame, spray paint it if you want, put the glass back in when it dries, then write on it with markers.

Love the idea of a chalkboard or pallet for your intimate wedding! Everyone will be able to view it and follow along with the order of events. Paper programs are nice but you're correct, they typically end up left at the seat and thrown out.

We are going to do one program on a pallet. Most of the time you get pallets for free especially if you look on fb marketplace in your area!

I love this idea. It would look really nice and still match the other wood elements.

I personally really like wedding signs. However, with only 30 attendees I don't think you will necessarily need a program.

Yes, paper programs do seem like a waste. I second the chalkboard idea.

    I'm skipping the paper program.
It seemed like a waste of money that I could put elsewhere.
I considered a chalkboard. Our house came with some extra windows, so I'm considering painting those and lettering them.
Also considering skipping it all together.

Go to goodwill and get a large frame, paint it with chalk paint and boom rustic chalkboard!

Or maybe just skip it 🤷🏽‍♀️ Sometimes less is more. No one will miss it.
