Day of Coordinator

Nona, on May 29, 2019 at 5:49 PM Posted in Planning 0 11
What is the price range in your area for just the Day Of Coordinator? My FH doesn’t see fit for one as our wedding is very small and intimate. So far I have a total of 17 including me and him and the bridal party of 4 total.

I was quoted $300-$3,000. I'm in Denver. Anything under $1,000 was women on Facebook either in college or just starting out or doing it as a side business. I'm paying $1,150 for ours and she worked in the professional event planning industry for years, has a degree in it, has done over 500 weddings, etc. The $1,500+ ones were the sought after DOC.

Geez.. and I thought I was quoted high just for day of. I only need her for the ceremony. My reception has an event coordinator with the cruise. I was quoted $700

I should say this is for Savannah Ga where I’ve been getting quotes from.

A day of really isn't a short day, it usually involves some work leading up (vendor confirmations, scheduling, decor, walk through, rehearsal, etc.) and the additional 6-12 hour wedding day. Sometimes they bring an assistant, so it accounts for two people. You could probably find someone to do just the ceremony for cheaper, depending on what you want them to do.

We’re in NYC (where everything is crazy expensive). I got quotes for reputable DOC with great reviews on WW for $850 to $1,500. So I think $700 for just a ceremony & 20 people in GA is high.
I agree with your FH, I wouldn’t hire DOC for wedding with 20 people, especially if you have caterer, officiant & maybe an usher. Our caterer will be setting up ceremony chairs, table, aisle etc. Usher can point people to right place & officiant will take care of ceremony itself.

I paid $1000 for a month of coordinator through my venue but in the Atlanta area I have heard everything from $500 - $10000 with the lower end probably being a DOC and the higher being a wedding planner with no time constraint

The quote I got was just for the ceremony. I understand it’s more than just a day. But when I have everything booked and taken care of. I just need her/him for no more than 3hrs. I have no decorations to deal with. Only renting chairs since it’s in a square at a gazebo. I just want to make sure I’m getting my moneys worth for $700. FH isn’t on board. Lol

My ceremony and reception is 2 different places. I guess I can have my oldest son (21) meet to set up chairs as long as I show him the night before. I guess I just figured out (with opinions) that I don’t need one. Lol thanks!

Lol... you’re welcome. I’m sure your 21 year old will be able to handle the chair set up. Especially since you say you have no ceremony decorations & reception venue has a coordinator already.
DOC are useful for large weddings & when you have no venue coordinator or caterer or other people who can help. But they are definitely not a necessity.

In my area day of coordinators start at $2k. If it’s a small wedding it might not be necessary.

We have ours for 8 hours (two the day before, 6 the day of), and we will be paying $800.
