Day of Coordinator

Nerissa, on February 20, 2020 at 6:08 PM Posted in Planning 0 7

I've decided it's best to hire a day-of coordinator for my wedding. A dear friend who I trust implicitly offered, but I would really rather let her enjoy herself as a guest. I narrowed down to a couple that sounded like a good fit and both sent proposals. I decided to move forward to request a contract from one - she was not only best price but covered more in the scope of what she was offering. The thing is I have had to follow up with her umpteen times to get a response every time - first for her estimate, then for the contract. Now I've been waiting three days for her to respond to a simple question I have before signing the contract. Am I an a-hole if I decide to move on? This feels like a major red flag.

Yes it's bothersome but find out what's up with her first. Say "wow it's been hard to get in contact with you." Give her some ample time to respond see if she's genuine or just too busy to be the planner you need. Go from her response....

In situations like this, I usually say something like “I noticed there’s a long delay when I call/text/email you, is there another way you’d prefer for me to contact you?” That way you truly can learn her preference and she will pick up that you’re frustrated. If it continues, I would move on.

This is a business. You’re never in the wrong for not supporting a business you don’t trust.

I agree. Its good to give a day to respond, but if it is a constant nagging to get a response over the course of several days, i'd move on.

I would be bugged about it too but I like what pp suggested so you can also find out if there’s things you can do with them to better communicate

I decided to ride it out and took y'alls advice to ask her for the best mode of communication. I think we're going to be good now! FINGERS CROSSED!
