Day of coordinator

Brianna, on February 20, 2020 at 8:39 PM Posted in Planning 0 10
We are getting married October 11th and pretty much have everything together. I did not hire a wedding planner I did the wedding planning as far as contacting the vendors , hiring decorators ,caterer,dj ect . My only concern now is how will the day of flow like I want it too .

I have put together a spread sheet of what time I want everything to be done such as start time, dinner time , pictures , dance. I just have this unsettling feeling like the day of will not go smoothly and feel unorganized.
I would love opinions from brides who didnt have a planner or coordinator . How did you feel everything went , do you wish you had hired someone to be in charge at least for that day ?
( I will mention it would mostly be for the reception. We are just doing a small ceremony with immediate family so mostly I just want the reception to not be all over the place. )

I did everything my self as well but luckily my venue has a DOC included with my package free of charge. I’d call and ask them if that service is available and if there is a fee.

I didn’t have a DOC and SO wish we did! Our venue had a “Wedding and Events Coordinator” and she was absolutely awful. Many of our guests had run ins with her, she screwed over our musician and was rude to our wonderful photographers. People kept coming to me to ask me questions or to get info and I wish I had a person working for US, not our venue. My photographer basically became our DOC and she was amazing, but of course it would have been much much better to have an outside person.

Thank you . I will definitely ask. I doubt they do it's more of a banquet hall/event center the lady that helped me do the paperwork and set my date told me they were just volunteers who helped take care of the building.

Yes my family is already helping so much I would hate for them to have to take on that task as well and not get to really enjoy and celebrate with me

I had a doc but only to do set up of my reception while I was at the ceremony. So for this I still had to stay incredibly organized. I was able to store things the night before at ceremony and reception venues and I labeled each box for each purpose such as guest sign in table box was only for stuff for that table. I think wats also important is giving yourself enough time to plan and set up all these things

Brianna that’s great you’ve done all that. But my suggestion is for your own sanity hire a day of coordinator. Let them be concerned with the flow . Your day will go by so quickly you want to be able to take it ALL IN!

I'm already glad that our venue comes with a DOC. She sent us a list of questions, and half of it I never would have thought of until a confused guest bugged me in the middle of the day. There is a lot that goes into the actual day. I'd say the expense is worth it just to not be pulling your hair out stressing on the day.

We had a DOC and are so glad we did! She (and her team) took care of set up, break down, timeline, communication between vendors, and probably more that I wasn't even aware of. DOC's can be expensive, but they take so much stress off of you, the price is so worth it!

I wasn’t going to have a DOC, but I changed my mind after getting advice from some other brides. I am SO glad we had one! She made sure everyone was in the right place at the right time, and definitely helped everything go smoothly! It was such a stress-free day!

We have a DOC built into our venue. I have met with her twice to discuss decisions we have made and she has given me a lot of tips and tricks and she has taken a lot of the weight off. She will reach out to my vendors and take care of all of their needs the day of and the weeks before. I'm glad I have one.
