Day of Coordinator cost?

McKenzie, on July 20, 2019 at 8:59 PM Posted in Planning 0 11
Hi all! I am signing a contract for our venue this week and they don’t have a day of coordinator which is pretty important to me. They have a “day of host” that does set up, tear down, and ceremony, but does not “coordinate” schedule of events. First question, do I need more than the day of host? Second, how much does a day of coordinator run? Wedding is in Bonney Lake, Washington

You don’t need one but one will be helpful. The cost depends on where you live.

They're super helpful. I've seen usually it's around $100 an hour from the average I see.

It's really a personal decision. A lot of brides on here have recommended how helpful it has been and took a lot of stress away. I hired a planner so her services include day of. Look on the vendors page of WW to find planners in your area and you can get the pricing for day of.

I think it really depends on how organized you are and how much the venue is doing. My venue did most everything, I just added a few elements. I am super organized and had everything together -- but really they did everything. I think it is mostly important if you have a variety of vendors. The only outside vendors we had were flowers, cake, and photographer. So the rest came from the venue -- so they had it down.

What is a day of host? Is it similar to a day of coordinator? That would be my first big question.

Our venue requires us to have one, our day of coordinator is great to help us keep track of all our vendors and build our event timeline. We paid $900 for ours - but she's basically our wedding planner because she's a saint (:

A DOC isn't a necessity, but I would prefer to have one if it's in your budget. We are paying $1300 in the Cincinnati area for ours, however, I think she offers more services than most DOCs. She is also bringing 3 assistants. You could likely find one cheaper.

I'm paying $1800 for mine. That is for their "ultimate day of coordinator" package. they give vendor
reccomendations, available to email unlimited, and can set up meetings with vendors as well as the day of coordination. It's been a lifesaver for us and I'm glad we did it.

I don’t know how big your wedding is or how organized you are, but I recommend a wedding planner. As I did my research, I found wedding planners that only manage a small portion of your wedding don’t refer to themselves anymore as day of coordinators. However they offer different packages ; from the VIP type package on down. I paid $1500 for a low package and I’m so thankful. I found all my vendors, but my planner knows everyone and also gave me referrals. I’m having trouble with my baker and she’s going to contact her and straighten it out. She’s available for unlimited calls/emails, and does the walk through of the venue (6 weeks out), runs the rehearsal, sends everyone in the WP a schedule for the weekend, manages my timeline, manages all vendors for the day, etc. She gave me a discount for my invites on minted too. Highly recommend, planners are worth their weight in gold!

I’m sorry I should have been specific that it is through my venue.
